In all honesty, the way they've morphed into a power running and play-action team, they're already zagging when the rest of the league is zigging. What's great about their offense now is that they can run very very well, and that reduces the pounding Brady takes (I just don't think they think he will hold up throwing 40+ times a game). But they know - unlike Baltimore with Jackson, for example - that when push comes to shove, if they need Brady to sling it for a quarter, he absolutely, positively can do that.
Of course, one key is that Gronk is such a great blocker, and not having him there reduces the running effectiveness. But in principle, they're already zagging.
