Or Evander Holyfield.

I went to try it once, but it looked like the mothers were about to call the cops, so I split.

Isn't brandonchristiansen the photoshop genius around here? I need a redone cover with Gronk throwing Sergio Brown out of the club.

Gronk came in to my work today as part of PanMass Challenge fund raising efforts. Posed for pictures with us and didn't mind just about every woman there groping him. Obviously he's a very large man but what struck me most in person was the size of his hands. Freakishly big. He was very nice and accommodating. Would do goofy poses with people if they asked (flexing, finger gun, one chick did a prom type pose with him).

“@ChrisCotillo: Paul McCartney just called Rob Gronkowski out to play air guitar. This is not a drill.”

“@IanMBrowne: As I sit here at Yankee Stadium, an eyewitness report from Fenway has Gronk singing Helter Skelter during the McCartney show.”

For those on mobile. The Twitter links are of Gronk "rocking out" with McCartney

It was fucking glorious. He was singing along the whole time. Was a little surprised he knew all the words. Yet another reason why Gronk rules this world.
Just to clarify for those not in attendance, though Gronk was singing along it's not like he was doing a duet with Paul. Once or twice he leaned in to Paul's mic, but he was mostly just singing along to himself. He may be a lover, but he ain't no dancer.

That's correct. I believe he only did 1 "Helter Skelter" into the mic at the very end of the song. Awesome show all around I thought, but he should drop maybe I'm amazed and can't buy me love from his sets. 74 year old Paul can't get up there anymore.

Yeah, I'll always love Maybe I'm Amazed, but the last couple of times I've seen him do it he's struggled. Funny thing is that when his voice seems a bit shakey it's mostly on some of the ballads and seems much stronger on the the heavier stuff. God bless him man he still puts on a hell of a show.

So . . . no news on the leg injury is good news?
All tea leaves are pointing towards it being minor or nothing and Gronk/the team showing an abundance of caution. Reports from the field were that he wasn't grabbing or pointing at anything with the trainers and walked without a limp. Hopefully it was a cramp, feeling a little tight or worse cause some sort of mild strain in the groin, hamstring or something like that. Wouldn't be shocked if he is out or limited today and certainly wouldn't freak out if he is.

Here's a fantastic piece on Gronk's football acumen. He really is the whole package. Also some great insight from Belichick and a few opposing coaches.

Get well soon, big fella.

Thanks for linking. This stat from the article seems pretty powerful: Last season, when Gronkowski was on the field, New England averaged 7.27 yards per pass play. When he was off, that number plummeted to 5.24.

That seems huge, but I'd need some context. That seems largely a function of the abomination of the Eagles game, the only game he didn't play in, and snaps he missed during games he played in, so if he got hurt and left in the middle of the game, then the game plan gets screwed up, so sure, I can see that number dropping.

But I think he was over 90% in snap count in every game except a blowout of Jax and 20 point win over Houston--I doubt we were throwing long much in those games with him off the field and games out of reach.

I think that's why Bennett is so key, he can do 80% of what Gronk does allowing for some injury flexibility. I am literally giddy thinking about when we see them both on the field.

“@NEPD_Loyko: "One more TD and I've got 69 touchdowns if you know what I mean" - Rob Gronkowski”

I cant be the only person who thinks Gronk has a "special" (no gronk spike) celebration in store for his 69th TD?

That's kind of a lazy way to end the article: with a silly binary poll. Perhaps this could be an interesting off-season article for ITP, to drill far more deeply into a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the 4-5 TEs that might be part of this conversation.
Agreed, Reiss is usually better than that. That was very Cafardo.

You know who's overrated? Gronk.

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2016/10/31/bitter-bills-unimpressed-with-rob-gronkowskis-record-breaking-performance/?cid=twitter_985thesportshub

“He uses his body well, but he’s got Tom Brady,” Graham said after the game, according to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe. “I mean, Tom Brady’s Tom Brady.”

Linebacker Zach Brown, for whatever reason, gave more credit to the clear No. 2 tight end on the team.

“I’m more impressed with [Martellus] Bennett than Gronk,” Brown said. “When Tom Brady wasn’t here, you didn’t hear [Gronk]. But when Tom Brady comes back he knows where to place it, how to place it, and he uses Gronk’s size to his advantage.

“As far as blocking, no, I do not think [Gronk’s] one of the best. Bennett is probably a better blocker.”

Pretty spot on, actually - ESPN NFL Live is currently debating "We have seen the best of Rob Gronkowski/Has Gronk Peaked?"

Any update on the back injury from yesterday?
Well, to be frank, isn't that likely true? I mean, not in the hot-take way that they're saying it, but what are the odds that he'll get *better*?

He's 27, in his seventh season. Even before, he lost a college season to back surgery. He takes a lot of hits and goes all out all the time.

We may have seen the best, and it would be quite understandable.

Put it this way. Even though oft injured himself -- and even though he is not 1/100th the blocker that Gronk is - if you gave GMs the choice between Jordan Reed and Gronk, my guess is that most would take Reed.

Mileage matters.

Reed is probably a bad example since he might miss a week or more now with a shoulder injury and is one or two concussions away from retirement.

Perhaps better would be the reincarnation of Jimmy Graham or Gronk. Never thought we would see that debate again.

What?

The same Jordan Reed who has: 9GP, 11GP, 14GP, and now 9 this season (and not likely to play in more than 12 or 13, depending on his shoulder?)

Yea, Gronk isn't an Iron Man either. But a healthy Gronk is light years better than Reed. And Gronk has 7, 15, 15, and 8 in the same timeframe. So Gronk has been as healthy, if not more so.

Alright, Jimmy Graham then.

Still laughing buddy?

Edit. The point is that he'll be completing his 7th season. And anyone who thinks he'll sustain prior level of production thru age 34 the way he plays -- is very optimistic, maybe ridiculously so. So the comment that people are shooting arrows at seems quite reasonable.

Let Graham go over 1,000 yards or catch more than 4 TDs in a season without Brees and the NOLA offense, then maybe. Also, if he got like 3 times better at and more interested in blocking.

Yeah GMs arent taking 30 year old Jimmy Graham over 27 year old Gronk either, but Gronk's peak being over, sure, his age and experience say its possible.

Lets revisit this offseason 2017.

Gronk in equal health parity with any of them is vastly better overall than all of them. I don't think anyone disagrees with that. Just enjoy it. Backs are bad.
