@MarkDanielsPJ We have two cuts to go. One won't be D.J. Foster. He is making the Patriots 53-man roster.

So still a chance that Bennett gets cut!

Surprises:
-Clay Harbor makes it as 4th TE
-Pats carry 10(!) OL including both Cam Fleming and LA Waddle
-Jonathan Jones wins the CB battle over LeBlanc, presumably for ST contributions
-Both Dobson and Martin cut/Dola not on PUP

Less surprising: Foster > Gaffney

Pats are likely to be active in waiver market, I think. Watch at WR (a bit thin, though offset by depth at TE and RB) or RB (dissatisfied). Cuts likely to come at OL or TE. Might also go find a blocking TE to take Flemings spot unless that's sort of his new job (he's not credible to go out for a pass though).

Terrific depth and talent along the front for both the D (DL, LB) and O (OL, TE). Nice reminder that the conjunction linking finesse & physical doesn't have to be an "or."

Mike Reiss points out that the depth kept at tackle might be a bad sign for Solder's hammy week 1.

Between the TE & OL, plus Develin making the squad, they are gonna use a ton of 12 personnel (2 WR, 2 TE, 1 RB) in the first 4 weeks.

4 TE offense, @Super Nomario?

Any sense of whether injuries played a part in these cuts? Martin came out on Thursday. And Gaffney was limping.

In what world do we have "terrific depth and talent" at OL? Is that a misprint?

Sankey signing with Pats PS per Schefter.

Tweet from @AdamSchefter:
Former Titans' RB Bishop Sankey, who went unclaimed on waivers, is signing with Patriots' practice squad, per... es.pn/2bPGfbN

Really glad to see DJ Foster make the team. Seems like another exciting and versatile piece to play with in the offense and a hedge on Dion Lewis's return to health. But with the start of college football I'm reminded that DJ is just going to be keeping the seat warm until Christian McCaffrey comes in :)
I'm sure it'll be said here 1000x before the 2017 draft but my god that kid plays like he was literally built by a machine that produces players suited for the Patriots offense.

McCaffrey's never going to last until the final pick of the first round

Ugh, Roberts is a solid depth guy. I would like to have seen him make his way onto the practice squad.

Losing Cre'Von LeBlanc is a bigger bummer for me. From what I can tell and have read, he outperformed Robertson by miles this off season. Were it not for his lack of S/T value, I suspect he would've made the 53 over JJ. Don't love losing that KGH guy Philly signed, either.

Edit: autocorrect and typos.

I believe he was waived/injured, so he would have gone on the IR list and would not have been eligible for the practice squad.

I don't know a thing about this guy and LB depth is a huge concern, can you guys fill me in on him?
They list him at 220lbs or so but that might be generous. Think of him as one of the Safety/LB hybrids that are starting to show up around the league. He showed some coverage skills during preseason games and he will play special teams. Bit of a niche player, not likely to hold up when teams run it right at him.

He is a small(6'2", 220), fast LB/S hybrid who would have had limited utility in the short term on defense but would likely be a ST demon.
He looked good when he played but I think the acquisition of Mingo got him cut.

Edit:Beaten by seconds.

thanks, could he play outside LB in a 4-3? Sounds like (and I heard this elsewhere) he needs to bulk up some.
They have that new niche player already, Watkins, or at least he played that role last year.
They have two excellent safeties (one of the better combos in the league) and some decent depth, so to get a LB/S tweener AND a safety when they need LB help and probably TE too is interesting. They must like him, or lost out on some other waiver pick ups
