In my clipps defense, you don't break your fall by pulling a guy's neck down with you
I don't have a problem with them getting riled up about that; but Blake, Jordan and CP3 make themselves easy to dislike along with Doc flailing his arms on the sideline.

Oh definitely. They cry like babies as much as anyone in the league. They're #1 by far. Cavs warriors battling for #2

Also Porzingis and not giving a damn about no damn Drake night
I'd love to see what the Zinger can do in a system that didn't have nearly as many Melo iso's and Rose drives that lead to impossible layups.

I feel like the only difference between this years Knicks team and the Pierce/KG Nets is that the Knicks have a future franchise player to build upon.

How is it that we are lacking a 2016-2017 Knicks Dysfunction thread? It seems wrong to not have one to discuss things like rumors of Phil meddling again....

Tonight, Wiggins went 14-20 (3-6 from deep) for 35 points with 10 boards and four assists. KAT scored 25 points with 10 boards and two blocks. He also had a pump fake around Embid to a monster dunk. I mean, I know it was the Sixers but these guys to are going to win rings if the Wolves can keep them together.

At some point the talent will translate to wins because Towns, Wiggins, LaVine, Dunn, Rubio, Jones, Dieng, etc. is a ridiculous young group of players to have. And it looks like they'll be in lottery ville again this year.

We are watching Andrew Wiggins make "The Leap" right before our very eyes. He's so special.

I pointed this out in the C's/Dubs gamethread this evening but those Celtics fans pining for Evan Turner should look at his stats this season. Take a gander at his per 100 possession numbers:

Evan Has Turned.png

He is off to a horrible start. And tonight he put up this line:

Yikes.png

If this keeps up, Brad Stevens will be known as the Turner Whisperer...

I kind of buried the lede there. In that Portland/New Orleans game, Anthony Davis scored 38 points on 14-22 from the field including 2-5 from downtown along with 9 boards and 6 assists and 4 blocks. Someone free this guy...he deserves better than Jrue Holiday and the walking wounded...

Its not really what Turners doing for POR its what he did for the Cs last year.

Not saying he would have replicated that or I would have paid him but nobody has fully assumed the second unit ball handler/multi pos defender role.

Embiid last night was full holy shit. 17 points in 7 minutes to start including 3 threes.
People are going to have to stop ignoring him out there and I have no idea how you guard a guy that big and agile from 3 point line to the rim.

The help block on booker was... Pimp

Also erm stauskis is back! Shooting, driving, scoring real points (21 last night). I know the suns are the suns but this guy was a borderline cut for one of the worst teams in the NBA and is now playing like a great sixth man, bench leader. Mad.

And Saric has seen his improved shooting in Europe translate so far, on three attempts a game.

Seriously though Embiid is fucking great to watch. I wish Simmons was healthy, this would be a fun ass team to watch. As it is they're OK some nice passing. At least they're not horrendous when Embiid is out.

The NBA is so great right now, frankly they are a figuring out of what to do on the tight late game being full of free throws and time outs from giving the NFL a run.
The NBA has constantly analyzed its issues and tweeked rules to improve it. The NFL has made it so no one knows what a catch is in the same period and acted like complete dicks on multiple issues.
Plus the concussion issues of course

Howard/Porzingis will be a fun matinee matchup. Feels like with Porzingis' progression (right now the best PF in the NBA by RPM) the Knicks should be a very good team, but, of course, they aren't.

If Thibs (the Dusty Baker of the NBA) doesn't shorten their careers. He played all of his starters 38 minutes last night against an eastern conference team in December.

I thought he would have learned something from his time with the Bulls. I guess not.

38 minutes at night and double session practice for today. This guy will be coaching overseas within 3 years.

Well some of the kids are going to get moved if they play like that down the stretch many more times. Wiggins doesn't seem to realize that KAT is the go-to on that team.

OKC had Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka all in their early 20s at the same time, and look how many rings they ended up with.

I wouldn't go counting the Wolves' future rings just yet. It's extremely hard to hold young cores together, especially in small markets like OKC and MIN. And as promising as Towns-Wiggins-LaVine (and I guess Dunn) are, I'm not sure they're quite Durant-Westbrook-Harden-Ibaka.

On a related note, maybe to early to start thinking about MVP, but the early leaders in the clubhouse look like the old OKC big 3 (Westbrook, Harden, Durant) plus CP3, LeBron and Kawhi. Any other contenders?

Woah really? I mean better to do that with kids who need the experience than vets but what a shock he burns out his teams
This is what the backup PG told his Dad after the game last night. I ran into the Dad this morning.

They are 1a and 1b depending on the night. Wiggins is having a phenomenal year despite last nights egg.

I think CP3 may be the frontrunner, actually, if the Clips keep this up or anything close. He and Griffin may split some ballots, but I think CP3 is far more respected around the league; and advanced stats have always suggested that he's the straw that stirs the drink on that team. He's currently crushing everyone by RPM at +9.92 (followed by Harden, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi, LeBron and Curry). Griffin is #12.

Harden and Westy have much more exciting Fantasy numbers, but I'm not sure OKC and Houston are going to be good enough to push them to the top.

Durant and Curry have both been great, and absurdly efficient, but I feel like they won't get serious consideration unless the Ws are like 10+ games better than any other team. Which I suppose is a possibility.

The way Rose played tonight getting the Knicks back to .500, they might in face be a very good team.

Three in a row for Pelicans since Holiday came back. They've nosed ahead of Nets.

The Lakers might actually be the most "fun" team in the NBA. And I hate to admit it but I love all that is Swaggy P.

Gross! I mean, all due respect to the job Luke has done so far ... I remember seeing him play at the Raymond Park basketball courts in Cambridge when his dad was with the Cs and he was a wee tyke (I was a teenager); and of course will always give him huge props for the 39-4 start he oversaw with the Ws while Kerr was convalescing. But now and forever ... f*ck the Lakers. May they stay stuck on 16 championships for all eternity. And may the Warriors take them over their knees the next two games and give them an epic spanking.

Oh I am on your side when it comes to them winning championships. However, just looking at them through an entertainment prism, they are fun to watch right now. And you know where my rooting interests lie these next two games.

More on Kevin Love's 34 pts on 11-for-14 shooting (8-for-10 from 3) in the first quarter: - Most points in 1st Q in any game in NBA history - 2nd-most points in any Q in NBA history behind Klay Thompson's 37 (3rd Q) - Love has the most points in a Q in Cavaliers history (the most previously was 24, done by LeBron James three times) - Rest of the top 5: 33—George Gervin, San Antonio at New Orleans, April 9, 1978 (2nd Q); Carmelo Anthony, Denver vs. Minnesota, Dec. 10, 2008 (3rd Q) 32—David Thompson, Denver at Detroit, April 9, 1978 (1st Q)

Poor Portland. Last night they lost their lead late to the Knicks and then the next night, on the road, they run into The Kevin Love Experience. Maybe Baby Dame should have skipped free-styling on Sway In The Morning.

I dont see the Wolves being a contender anytime soon. They seem like a Philadelphia type of a team where they have a lot of young individual talent that doesnt translate to team success.

Their talent is better, but yeah, it takes time even with mega-elite young talent like Towns. The C's dismantling of a big lead in one quarter was a good example. Who's the steady hand to get a good shot, draw some free throws, bear down on D, etc. Love their future though, if Thibs doesn't kill them.
