Well a win.
Not a good win but a win.
The good news, the front seven held up despite missing 3 starters and a key back up (Kendricks, Alonso, Thornton, Hart) and really have to be encouraged by the play of Jordan Hicks the Rookie. A sack/ FF and hitting Romo and breaking his shoulder in half of his first game. A fumble recovery and INT in the second. Encouraging as I think Ryans is nearly done and Alonso is a injury concern going forward at best.
The D generally played well, aided by turnovers including the WTF was that lateral from Marshall, which was just horrendous.
The secondary held up pretty well, Carroll played well and Rowe saw the field and even had a pick on great coverage play.
Again they wore down late, in part due to the failure of the offense. The D is good. Still concerns about the secondary but the safeties look good, Thurman has been very solid.
The bad side was again offensive.
Not a good game, a bit better but that's really a LOW bar. Bradford did not play well, but once again was victimized by drops. I saw a report saying with some luck and players holding the ball he could have had 4 tDs, but to be clear that would have been flattering in the extreme. Matthews (RB) has horrible hands, and he dropped a potential wide open TD, with no one around. He did catch the Wheel route TD at least.
The receivers really have to step up here it's unacceptable.
Gardner the RG was hurt in the game, hard to argue that this hurts the team other than if some chemistry was developing but they were able to run the ball a bit.
Basically though the offense still sucks. The second half was horrible, 5 3 and outs and a four and out I think. There was one burst where the Eagles played ok and it was all that they needed plus D and Sproles and the ST unit.
If and it's a big IF, Kelly can get the offense to competent, the D and ST units suggest they're ok. But that's a lot of hope for now.
Finally, the sproles punt return was insane. There was no lane, he broke 4 or maybe 5 tackles. Just ridiculous.
