He came in with some buzz last year, but never really established himself in Prov. He is also much smaller than Looch. He had some injury problems, so maybe he'll show more this year. Even at that, I don't see him ever sniffing a top 6 NHL role.I don't know, I don't think Camara has that much upside. He seems more like a Byron Bitz type to me from what I've seen. Fringe 4th liner who will fight. Maybe I'm wrong.

F: Caron, Cunningham, Florek, Fraser, Khoko, Leino, Spooner
D: Warsofsky
Missing anyone "new"?

I agree with all of that.cshea said:I'm with Chiarelli on this. The Merlot line was fun and help immensely in 2011, but they've largely been exposed be past 3 playoff years. Let's get some skill there. They've got plenty of of the grinder/PK types in the top 9 to survive a young, skilled 4th line (say Paille - Spooner - Florek). 4th lines typically get ~10 minutes of sheltered ice time per game, so we'mre not talking heavy minutes here. It's an area where the Bruins youth and depth can help create an advantage over other teams.
Edit: Robins still being around basically contradicts the decision to let Thornton go. Yeah he is cheaper, but they justified the Thornton decision by saying at the time fighting was down.

Top defensive pairing: Zdeno Chara-Dougie Hamilton
Second defensive pairing: Dennis Seidenberg-Johnny Boychuk
Third defensive pairing: Torey Krug-Adam McQuaid/Kevan Miller
Goalies: Tuukka Rask, Niklas Svedberg

I have seen highlights of some fights and some checks...brings some energy, is there more?
Lots of energy, not much else. They will keep him as a scratch I bet, as long as he's a good fighter. The Bruins love their tough guys, and he's a lot cheaper than Thornton would have been. Still, it's a waste of a roster spot to me. I'd much rather see them hold onto Cunningham and send Robins down. Cunningham is quick and scrappy. That's a much better fit for the current NHL.SawxSince67 said:Bobby Robins, huh? Kind of want to root for the guy, but at 32 years old he has shown all he has to offer.

Robins is a great story. A guy that has really payed his dues. Most guys like him are done after being dropped down from the AHL to the ECHL and Euro league tiers. He somehow parlayed a PTO with the PBruins as roster fodder to get them through a stretch when they were down a few players into being on the brink of making his 1st NHL team at 32.SawxSince67 said:Bobby Robins, huh? Yes, but that puts a lot of weight on McQuaid's shoulders as the only credible inhibitor of mischief against our skilled forwards. And McQuaid, by many accounts, is on the block.RIFan said:Robins is a great story. A guy that has really payed his dues. I'd love to see him get into a few NHL games and maybe knock in a goal. That being said, I don't think he'd be a detriment to the team as an energy/ situation player but it seems it's counter to their stated direction to add more skill to the 4th line. He is also extremely prone to taking incredibly stupid penalties. He pushes the boundaries as the energy guy / enforcer too far and puts his team in shorthanded situations. I'm rooting for him because he seems to be a genuinely good guy and an excellent teammate, but it's a spot that probably should go to someone else like Cunningham who can add some scoring to the 4th line.
Forgot about Miller's pugilistic prowess. After the Montreal series he faded from the picture for me. That was probably wrong.TheStoryofYourRedRightAnkle said:Miller would step into that role if McQuaid is traded, no?
And do we really need one?
Krejci line has Lucic. Nobody wants to fight Lucic, so that serves as a deterrent, and he's shown he'll go when necessary to protect/avenge his linemates.
Bergeron line... well, Marchy is more likely to be a creator of mischief than a receiver.
Campbell, McQuaid/Miller serve as the guys who do "spark plug" fights when the Bs or the other team wants a fight to try to motivate the team.
They have until Tuesday to get down to a 23-man cap compliant roster. They can send Hamilton down for a day as a paper transaction to help, but they'll still need to move money by then before LTIRing Savard.FL4WL3SS said:When is the last shoe going to drop? If Chia can't find trading partners, then we're going to see a few guys try to get stuffed through waivers, I think.
I wouldn't "suggest" to Looch he has responsibilities. I simply expect that teams are a lot less likely to fuck around with his line given that he has been willing and capable of dismantling guys who mess with him or his line mates in the past.catomatic said:Forgot about Miller's pugilistic prowess. I'd be afraid to suggest to Lucic that he had responsibilities in this area—seems like a bad idea for his game and focus and (team) PK time and all the rest of it.
Campbell puts no fear in anyone's heart, nor does Marchy. If McQuaid is still here, he's part of the answer, and I guess Miller, too. Bobby Robins takes people apart. If the John Scotts of the world want to dance, Bobby should be his partner—not an essential roster piece.
Forgot about Miller though. I hope he holds up better over the long haul because he was a very excavating addition for a while there.
Edit: Added graf breaks.
