So BC picked up a commitment from AJ Turner point guard from New Hampton Prep. Turner is ranked 106 in the country. Huge get and Christian is now 6 for 6 (including transfers) closing during official visits.
Well it looks like Stanford's coach is coming out to boston to meet with Sharma before his official visit. Sounds like he might be concerned.BigSoxFan said:Christian is quietly doing a very good job. And BC finally understands that you can't go cheap on the assistants. If this team can land Sharma or Falzon, this program is going places.
isn't Hanlan only a junior?BigSoxFan said:We lose our best player after this year. I'd be hard pressed to say better days are coming. I do like the emphasis on defense but holy shit does this team play remedial offense. Odio is averaging a solid 2.8ppg in 24 mins.
You could have played UConn every year if you wantedBigSoxFan said:Yup. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. I want another shot at UConn. Go eagles.

Can someone please explain to me this concept of the withering BC "admission standards"? Knowing several BC football players personally in the 1980s, I know with certainty that the BC "vaunted standards" did not apply back then (at least to those guys, knuckleheads every one of them). And why is it that Duke, Stanford, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, UVA.....etc...etc.....all of which are clearly superior to BC (academically), can somehow get kids into their schools, but BC cannot? I would understand the answer if it is that BC has similar standards to those schools, but no top HS recruit that is qualified (both athletically and academically) is ever going to go to BC if he can get into Duke, Stanford, etc.. If that's not the answer, then is Bernie quite right? i.e. BC simply has no interest in competing in college hoop beyond the lucky 1 in 10 season that Bernie noted? I mean really, BC needs to get over itself (or should be applauded for not swimming in the cesspool so to speak).berniecarbo1 said:They do not do anything on the admissions side to help in recruiting, knowing full well that in basketball, by the nature of the recruiting pool, many of the players who could help on the court cannot get in to BC under its current admissions standards.
I don't really understand this from a mathematical perspective? 3 v. 20+kenneycb said:The admission standards in football is less of a problem than it is in basketball IMO, which is one of the reasons we can and do compete in football.

So pathetic.

I thought we fired Donahue last year?Dan to Theo to Ben said:They're doing a "whiteout" for Fri v. Providence, but the shirts are neither free, nor do they have enough for every seat.

Thanks for the kind words. That was the most nervous I've been all year watching UVA play. That BC team showed some real toughness.Dan to Theo to Ben said:Props to twibnotes and the other UVA fans on here. The Hoos came out in numbers, upper level included. On par with Duke, UNC and Kansas in terms of numbers, above the NC teams in terms of lack of douchiness.
Dan to Theo to Ben said:BC needs to move to a smaller gym. It was around 75% Heels. BC ticket office also needs to stop playing games.
As for the team, can't imagine how they'd look without Olivier. Brown looked really smart out there though, outrebounded Clifford.
Again, need to play for 40 minutes, not 30-32.
great college playerGreg29fan said:Congrats to Olivier on making First Team All-ACC. That kid is a great player.
I don't follow it as much, but is Christian recruiting well?BigSoxFan said:Unless Diallo is a difference maker on defense, I don't see how we win more than 8-10. Donahue really did screw us.
