As a Pats season ticket holder from 3,000 miles away, I usually give/sell my tickets to friends or family. I wanted to do something cool for the TB12 game but have struggled to come up with something (aside from giving it to one of my knucklehead buddies).

I thought a neat idea would be to give them to someone that has had a rough time of things of late for whatever reason who wouldn’t normally be able to attend because of the ridiculous prices (being huge Pats fans with an irrational love of TB12 would be cool to). I was thinking folks could nominate people and a deserving person would be chosen if we got more than a few we could setup a poll and have the group vote on it. There are 2 seats, sec 340, row 2.

My only prerequisite would be that the tickets cannot be re-sold.

EDIT:
Let's take nominations thru Sunday's NO game

There
I'd nominate Papelbon's Poutine's brother -- though apparently he's a member here; not sure if this is intended to be only for non-members? Otherwise I nominate @Frisbetarian to give them to any two of the kids he's mentored over the years, at his discretion.

Don’t remember his name but how about that emergency room doctor (pulmonologist?) SOSH member who did that Q&A ask the doc thread here at the height of covid. He’s a true hero in many many ways.

@RG33, A wonderful thing to do. I hope the karma you receive is equal to the generosity of your act.

I would throw out a nomination for my younger brother. Early onset Parkinson's; just had brain surgery for the deep brain stimulation implants this past July and finally after a very rough year plus where he has only been functional for an hour or two a day with the meds because of the uncontrollable tremors, is now able to get back to somewhat more of a "normal" life.

This is great. @RG33 kudos to you man. I don't have anyone I can think of nominating.

As an aside I don't think I could handle being at this game. I could never root against the Pats so no issue there but I know there will be some vitriol in the stands aimed at Tom and I'm glad I don't have to witness that.

What an incredibly kind thing to do!
Thanks to RR for the mention but I’m clearly the least deserving of those mentioned so far. Should be an amazing time!! NEVER tell my son this info-he’s already asked for tix this year.

I would just be careful of putting people's rough times in a poll for people to vote on, that seems maybe well-intentioned but probably not a great thing to do.

Yes, thanks for saying that. I was sensitive to how to do this and even word my opening post, and am open to any ideas. I certainly don't want to make a spectacle out of anything or make anyone uncomfortable. Perhaps folks could share any nominations via DM if they're uncomfortable making it in here, and I'm happy just selecting someone based on everyone's insights.

Maybe a random drawing, if a general consensus isn't formed? I agree that a poll isn't the best option.

Edit: or what RG33 just stated. I'll butt out. He's being extremely gracious and he knows best.

You could also donate them to Make a Wish or something, in case a SOSH ticket connection isn't required.

Again, thanks for doing this.

Class act, RG.

I'd feel weird in voting. I'd say get all the nominations (you can qualify them), put them on a wheel, and spin for a winner.

For Cousin Frank, otherwise known as Doldmoose on this board. The founder of Mosi's Mooses - and a guy who loved this team when hardly anyone else did.
I'll second this nomination................Frank and his crew used to tailgate with us in the mid to late 1980's, we had a ball. About 12 of us flew to Miami for the AFCCG against the Dolphins, we rented two vans and drove to the game, we parked literally in someones back yard for 20.00.............we were hanging out tailgating and all of a sudden an RV rolls up and out comes Frank and his crew.........unbelievable, I mean what are the odds? We had a great time, then we went to the game and celebrated afterward, it was one of my top sports moments ever and Frank was right in the middle of it.

He'd be a great choice for the tickets.

Threads like this - and posters like RG33 - are what makes SOSH eliter than Joe Flacco.

edit typos
I wish I was the Joe Flacco of posters on SoSH, that would be an upgrade, I would genuinely just like to make someone’s day/month/year by letting them see the Patriots beat the shit out of TB12 in a home game.

Oh. Well then, I nominate myself. I'll get drunk but WONT fight people around me. Which will be hard, because I'll be cheering on Brady as loud as I cheer for the Pats.

I swear on my children’s souls I was going to say “and KFP is not allowed to nominate himself”.

So, my nominations:

@SMU_Sox - Not sure if he can make it out to the game (he'd have to fly), but few members have done as much for the forum as John, and I think even fewer people would be able to appreciate this as much. He's also had some struggles in his life (as we all have, I suppose) over the years, but hes come out the other side being a better person for it. Emotionally/physically/spiritually, he was a very different person a handful of years ago, and he deserves some love thrown his way.

@tmracht - More of a hockey fan (is he a Pats fan??) but someone else that had some struggles recently. He worked really hard to better himself and had a bit of a lapse, may be nice to dangle a Tom Brady size carrot for him to get back on track.

@Sille Skrub - unsure if Mike has season tickets (think he might), but this man loves the Patriots. Cant think of someone who would like this more.

@Frisbetarian - Chuck barely posts here anymore, but between health issues and losing his best friend recently (one of the coolest dogs I've ever met), this may be a fun way for him to let loose.

@IdiotKicker -Another awesome guy, Chuck #2 deserves this as much as anyone else. Always willing to help people on the board, and always giving honest/pointed/genuine feedback everywhere he posts.

Appreciate that a ton @Kenny F'ing Powers - since you mentioned it I will add this here... If any of you has a child dealing with mental health issues or has had a child attempt to take their own life and you just want someone to talk to my DMs are always open. One of the reasons I got into football so much back in 2016-2017 was because I needed a hobby and something I could work on that would bring me joy and recharge my batteries when it felt like everything around me was crumbling because of my son. We're not out of the woods with him and probably will never be but at least the in-and-out of hospitals and institutions has subsided. Baby steps, right? I like the idea of giving the tickets to Fris and having him take someone he mentored to the game. Also, is there a more inspirational guy than him?

Too kind to me @Kenny F'ing Powers, and while I do appreciate the sentiment, I think there are people far more deserving than me to have a chance to go to this one. I've DM'ed RG my personal preference, and while it would be an awesome take, I'll pass on these and say that any of the other people nominated would be fantastic choices. I have a wonderful couch to catch the game, my one-year-old will be in bed, and I'll have an awesome night at home. But I do appreciate the love.

Oh man, thanks KFP, yeah I've been struggling and most definitely a Pats fan, but please not me I'd much rather it go to someone more deserving. <3 Really really really appreciate it.

It would even better if we could get the second ticket to Melissa Theuriau. Isn't that right Melissa?

You're lucky I only go as far as Herkimer county to hunt. Because I'm there next week to kick off archery season, and I like free beer.

I think I'll nominate @Brand Name, she's a big Brady fan and the starting QB for the Pats played for 'Bama. I see this as a reward for all the great stuff she has done here and on Twitter.

I think it's wonderful you are doing this, @RG33. Thank you.

I also want to thank @Tokyo Sox for nominating 2 of my old students/kids I had in gang intervention, and @Kenny F'ing Powers for nominating me. I am honored, but am going to respectfully decline both. I am still in contact with many of my "kids," and none would appreciate this generous offer. They're just not into professional sports.

An aside some here may be interested in, but 3 of them and I are in the beginning stages of starting Pot for a Shot, a low key organization offering cannabis to (over 21) folks from our neighborhood who get (and show proof of) getting a vaccine.

If folks are cool with it, I was going to go through all of the nominations on Sunday evening with my wife and daughters and select who we want to give the tickets to. Feel free to add nominations between now and then. As mentioned previously, I don’t mean this to be a popularity contest and this is not to rank people’s respective plights in any way, I just thought it would be a nice way to do something meaningful for someone involving the Patriots. My initial thought would be just to DM the person who nominated the person that we give the tickets to.

Hi All — the tickets have been sent. Thanks for everyone’s input.

Go Pats.
