They should have stolen the top 2 in each group from the Champions league then played group winners vs runners up in first knockout round

Can just take 2 wildcards. There will be some good teams eliminated early here and far too much on tiebreakers. I like this thing it should run longer and play everyone home and away as far as I’m concerned
We’re gonna start the “the best teams lost so change the format” discussion again, a la the 2023 mlb playoffs?

When would that even come into play? We need Brooklyn to win tonight to force a three way tie, and win on differential right?
If Brooklyn wins, it’s a three way tie. Second tiebreaker is point differential. If they’re tied by point differential, the third tiebreaker is total points scored. So if the Celtics and Magic both had +22, Celtics would win as long as they score 121 (which would actually tie the third tiebreaker, but fourth tiebreaker is last season’s record).

Sorry if this is mentioned upthread but I’m confused. If the Celtics win by 23 or more they are in the Quater finals? Or do they need something to happen in the Nets game to advance?

Celts were +16 or so on the Nets, so if the C's win by 23, the Nets would need to win by 40 to pass the Celts.

If the Nets win its head to head to head between Magic, Nets, and Celts, which is a push so it goes to point differential for the group win.

If the Nets lose, Magic win the group via head to head, and Celts have a harder road via the WC point differential.

I think. I’m on my second cocktail.

If the Nets don't win, they need a wildcard, as Magic will clinch that group.

At that point, they need the best point differential of any 3-1 team. Currently, Knicks are leaders in that clubhouse at +18, pending tonight's contests. Right now they're +27.

Here
I know the players have every right to demand they try and win the 500k, but as a fan I hope they just let this one go and not go all out.
