I actually have what I think is a fairly reasonable proposal to address techs that has absolutely zero chance of ever happening. Players get a one game suspension for their 16th tech in a season, so do the same for refs on tech reversals - once you hit 16 reversed techs, you get a one game suspension. And another for every two thereafter. If the league thinks it's fair for the players, it should be fair for the refs.

Not necessarily. I think the league certainly prefers not to see star players miss games. And while it's hardly perfect, there is a willingness to acknowledge referee error with the last two minute reports. And the techs are getting a little out of control and hurting the product.
