Price to the DL with left elbow tendinitis

Exactly what I was thinking. It’s eerily similar. Sale was supposed to only miss one start too, would have been pitching if it was September, etc. We all know he barely pitched the rest of the season and wasn’t the same in the playoffs either. I take this with a grain of salt.

20% of the way there: How many games will this team win?

86 wins would be such a massive disappointment with this roster.

20% of the way there: How many games will this team win?

Are you seriously lumping Sale in with JBJ? Sale at least deserves some benefit of the doubt, he’s looking better his last couple starts and has several years of being an elite player to go back on. Jackie is who he is at this point, I think the best we can hope for is like .215 with some pop.

    Starting Pitching 2019

We’ve pretty much moved beyond win/loss record as a way to evaluate pitchers by now. Sale had a worse win% with the White Sox than Lester did here but he was certainly a level or two above Lester as a pitcher.

Keeping the Sky Up. What is going right?

John Tomase said this is the real Chris Sale now. It’s written in stone, no ace has ever had an awful month and then rebounding back to what he was before. Nope, never happened.

    Starting Pitching 2019

Sale (as all the starters) is trending in the right direction. To me, the offense is far more worrying. They are a straight up bad offense.

    Starting Pitching 2019

15 an inning would equate to 7 innings, 105 pitches, which is what someone should reasonably expect from an ace level pitcher like Sale or Price.

    The Uniform

They wore the home reds a lot last playoffs too. I believe for both Yankees games and both ALCS games as well.

Where the Red Sox have gone wrong

The 2017 Dodgers actually went on a 1-16 stretch from August 26th - September 11th. They of course rebounded to finish strong and then went on to make it to the World Series.

W.S. Hangover Cures: The Devil is in the Details...

Machado got well over twice what Xander got and Mookie is substantially better than him.

W.S. Hangover Cures: The Devil is in the Details...

I think it’s a cautionary tale to his teammates that it’s time to pick it the fuck up. This team needs to start playing with a sense of urgency

    Starting Pitching 2019

Sale was throwing mid 90s consistently the other night and even hit 97-98 several times. I’m not worried about him. He’s on the verge of being himself (ie arguably best pitcher in baseball). Porcello is definitely a worry. The walk rate is insane. His WHIP is nearly twice as bad as 2018 Drew...

Rosenthal: Sale extension 5 years, $145 million

It was (tied his opening day start this year). I’m still going to be encouraged by the stuff I saw from him last night. He’s on the verge of fixing this.

Rosenthal: Sale extension 5 years, $145 million

He hit 97-98 tonight! Too bad he got clobbered and continues to be one of the worst pitchers in baseball.

Rosenthal: Sale extension 5 years, $145 million

You might be right, but I just can’t help but look at those two deliveries side by side (one from a pitch last year at 99 mph and one from his start in Oakland this year at 89 mph) and just see how much less violent and explosive it was in his upper body. It just seems like an intent to hold...

Rosenthal: Sale extension 5 years, $145 million

I mean wouldn’t they have had Sale go through every possible physical test?

Rosenthal: Sale extension 5 years, $145 million

Oh so you’re part of the crew that thinks that the Red Sox just invested $145 million into a pitcher that had all sorts of physical issues show up on his numerous MRI’s?

Rosenthal: Sale extension 5 years, $145 million

Okay, start two last year he averaged 92.9 on the fastball and start four he averaged under 91, according to Brooks baseball, and it was only that high because the system was incorrectly categorizing many 86-89 mph fastballs as 'changeups'. Sale did not throw any changeups in that game and if...

Rosenthal: Sale extension 5 years, $145 million

Okay, but he's had individual starts similar to a couple of his starts so far. He should get 3 more starts this month, let's see where he's sitting by then.
