And, unsurprisingly, Correa and Bryant are your winners. The AL vote was closer than I expected, but I went back and looked at Lindor's numbers and they were a lot closer than I thought.

The link has the individual voting results. Surprised one voter didn't put Lindor on his ballot behind Billy Burns and Eddie Rosario.

I'm not saying that Arrieta isn't a worthy winner, but when you go 19-3 with a 1.66 ERA over 222 innings and don't win that's pretty rough.

Fun fact courtesy of Jayson Stark: Trout becomes only the 4th player with 4 straight top-2 MVP finishes (joining Bonds, Berra and Musial).

who the hell gave Trevor Rosenthal a 6th place vote????
To me, even worse is Kendrys Morales getting a 4th place vote when NO ONE ELSE even put him on the ballot. (George A King III from the NY Post)

Here are the stats Morales was in the top 10 of the AL:

Games Played - tied for 9th
Doubles - tied for 4th
RBIs - 6th
GIDP - 4th

He's a better DH than Ortiz? Really? Some people shouldn't have ballots.

King is a worthless writer also, amazing how some of these old hacks still have cushy jobs when there must be much better and younger people who would kill for that gig.

Mike Trout seems to be at the center of analytics debate. I'm sure everyone remembers this classic Silver post:
Still, the real progress in the statistical analysis of baseball is in the ability to evaluate the contributions that a player makes on the field in a more reliable and comprehensive way.

Perhaps 10 or 20 years ago, when evaluations of base running, defense and clutch hitting were murkier, stat geeks would have argued that Cabrera deserved the M.V.P. on the basis of the hard evidence.

Now that some of the “intangibles” have become measurable, we know that Trout did more of the little things to help his team win.

It’s the traditionalists who are using statistics in a way that misses the forest for the trees.
Well, now Joe Posnanski has a great piece about Trout getting robbed for the third time:
Here were Trout and Donaldson’s road numbers in 2015:

Trout: .316/.400/.623, 20 doubles, four triples, 21 homers.

Donaldson: .263/.343/.487, 16 doubles, one triple, 17 homers.

That’s not close at all. Trout’s road OPS+ — which compares his OPS to those across the league — was 187. Donaldson’s was 134. Again, not close.

And the statistics all agree: Trout was the significantly better hitter.
