There would be no such lawsuit.Draymond turning his suspension into a clickbait thumbnail for his podcast pretty much says it all. Silver better be praying that he just punches someone next time, if he causes a serious injury, the player would have an awful lot of evidence for a lawsuit, I would think.
I'm thinking this conversation took place only in Draymond's $.05 head. Why would Silver want this asshole in the league? I would imagine his life would be more peaceful if Draymond rode off into the sunset wouldn't it? I'm so rooting for Green to do something stupid, preferably a non-injury to a marquee name player, so Silver can just boot his ass for the rest of the year.I find it more likely that Draymond is bullshitting than that Adam Silver 'talked him out of retirement'. It's probably more like "Stop being a melodramtic ass, nobody's forcing you to retire" than talking him out of retirement.
Because a good Golden State basketball team is good for the league overall. And as we have seen, they are a much better team with Draymond playingI'm thinking this conversation took place only in Draymond's $.05 head. Why would Silver want this asshole in the league? If his punching accuracy matches his shooting accuracy, he'll slug a teammate. Again.Draymond turning his suspension into a clickbait thumbnail for his podcast pretty much says it all. Silver better be praying that he just punches someone next time,
100%. I mean Draymond's own quote basically says this.I find it more likely that Draymond is bullshitting than that Adam Silver 'talked him out of retirement'. It's probably more like "Stop being a melodramtic ass, nobody's forcing you to retire" than talking him out of retirement.
The problem is accepting his retirement thoughts as real. He's a complete phony of a human. I put no credibility into him retiring. Just more look at me bullshit.I don't think Silver is ever going to want a HOF level player to resign in disgrace, which is what a retirement now would be. His best case scenario would be for Draymond to come back and behave himself. I don't know how likely that is, but Silver discouraging him from retiring during this suspension is not the least bit surprising to me.
Yup, that's precisely how to look at this. As great and as unique as Draymond was, his act is really tired at this point, and that's before his behavior went even farther downhill. The problem is accepting his retirement thoughts as real. He's a complete phony of a human. I put no credibility into him retiring. Just more look at me bullshit.
100%, I'm only looking at it from Silver's perspective. I don't think he's at the level (yet) where he wants to see a future HOFer retire in disgrace. He's probably still in the "fingers crossed that draymond figures it out" stage. The problem is accepting his retirement thoughts as real. He's a complete phony of a human. I put no credibility into him retiring. Just more look at me bullshit.
Right. On Saturday, my 7 year old built two thirds of a snowman, and then had two successive heads fail to stay on top of the others or fall apart. In frustration, she declared that she was going to kick over the rest of it and wreck it. I had to restrain her from "I can do whatever I want, it's my snowman", and use it as a moment to work on sticking with something. She was perhaps every bit as serious about it as Draymond was, in the moment, and an adult is sometimes needed to give everyone a pause and a chance to refocus. The main difference is, of course, that the snowman's head had more in it than Draymond's.100%. I mean Draymond's own quote basically says this.
Silver was basically saying "take some time to think about this, you're obviously very emotional right now"
"I'll tell you it really pissed me off when Kevin Durant said, '[Green] wasn't like that when I was around [him and] I hope he gets the help he needs,'" Green said on his podcast. "And then I start going into this deep dive. ... I went back to Kevin Durant's statement ... as I sat with myself, I said, 'I think it is time that the world gets to know me, who I am. And if I can look at Kevin's statement the right way, through the right mindset, through the right lens, he is acknowledging essentially what I want the world to know about me.'"
Green explained that "the world still thinks I am the same Draymond as I was in 2017. And the reality is I am not even close to the same Draymond as I was in 2017."
"And then he spoke about help," Green continued. "And I'm like, how [is] he going to say 'I need help.' And when I went back through it with another lens I was like, maybe you shouldn't hear 'help' so negatively. Like maybe you are listening to the word help with the same mindset that the word help meant when you were 15 years old.
"Maybe he is not saying that as negatively as you're taking it. And even if he was, I made a decision in that moment that I wasn't going to take it that way. It was a very proud moment for me because I said, 'You're ready for growth.' That is a step in the right direction."
Green said he believed that was a "breakthrough" for him during his suspension.
"I'm just glad he's back," Durant said. "I'm glad he's able to talk about his situation, move forward from it and get back to playing and finishing out his Hall of Fame career."
I'm generally happy if someone might, maybe, be productively working through his severe issues? It brings me no joy whatsoever to report that Draymond is talking about his issues - and particularly, how he took Durant's comments of "I hope he gets the help he needs" - in a way that shows real maturity and growth. Reframing others' statements, to not perceive them as negative or get defensive and to find a productive way to view them, is like a top-tier emotional skill. I'm not super great at it myself. So at a very minimum, he's listened to some smart people, likely therapists, and can at least mirror some of the language they use and their thought processes. At a maximum, he's taking some stuff to heart.

I think every single one of them are itching to get up in his grill and see if they can trigger the next incident.Hard to imagine that the players he's attacked want to get back on the court with him any time soon.
I kinda think that'd be Jan 25th, vs the Kings, and it'd be Sabonis.I think every single one of them are itching to get up in his grill and see if they can trigger the next incident.
Holy shit. Over $4m in fines/lost game checks.I didn't know Spotrac had a tab that shows a player's fines and suspensions. I clicked on Draymond's. You gotta do a lot of scrolling to get to the bottom of this list. Oh boy

This is incredible shit, thanks for sharing. I'm going to get some mileage out of this during future lunch breaks. Rasheed, Jermaine O'Neal, Artest and Rodman also received way fewer fines than I would have imagine, but I guess that's a testament to the ways in which the game has changed as far as officiating goes.I didn't know Spotrac had a tab that shows a player's fines and suspensions. Vlad thought he was pretty rad indeed.Probably the most ridiculous reason for getting a $500,000 fine, but back in 2007, LA Lakers forward Vladimir Radmanovic was actually slapped with such a penalty for snowboarding. Doing some other physical activity would have been fine, but the NBA has this rule in place that snowboarding or any other extreme sports are “no go zones” for their players. The league officials argued that players should not enter into any physical activities that will put their health at a significant risk.
That's a fun list to see, although the fact that it breaks out all the technical fouls into individual fines and rows explains most of the scrolling. Jayson Tatum for instance has over 50 rows on his fines/suspensions tab.I didn't know Spotrac had a tab that shows a player's fines and suspensions. I clicked on Draymond's. Al has only 12 in 16 seasons.

I'd say max 10. This shouldn't count.A few more curiosities:

Ironically, we might be reaching the point where this NBA rule applies to stepping on a basketball court with Draymond Green...Probably the most ridiculous reason for getting a $500,000 fine, but back in 2007, LA Lakers forward Vladimir Radmanovic was actually slapped with such a penalty for snowboarding. This is why Kelly Oubre Jr. likely made up that he was hit by a car while cycling, when he was almost definitely doing BMX stunts on his bike earlier this year when he got injured.Ironically, we might be reaching the point where this NBA rule applies to stepping on a basketball court with Draymond Green...
I don't normally share Reddit sub comments because humans can only handle so much knowledge at any one time but a poster thinks they have the lip-reading down. I don't know if they do but since its the Draymond thread so anything goes apparently.
Marcus: “You mad! (laughs) “Don’t be a fool.”
— Draymond: responds (can’t read his lips bc he’s turned around)
— Marcus: “Ay, how much—how much money did you lose? (x4)”
Not to mention that Green refers to Dumars as "family." No idea how the NBA keeps a straight face on "discipline."Well when you have a guy from the early 90’s Pistons in charge of player discipline…
I had never heard of this. That’s laughable on multiple levels. Somewhere, Roger Goodell nods approvingly. Not to mention that Green refers to Dumars as "family." No idea how the NBA keeps a straight face on "discipline."

I'm no expert in lip reading, but that ain't it. Would've been great though.— Marcus: “Ay, how much—how much money did you lose? (x4)”
Your takeaway was that Draymond intentionally hit him in the face? What was the outcome of this? Was he ejected? To be a changed man and then slug another dude in the face... the Draymond experience needs to be over....
