No, you actually didn't. Show us what you have in mind.Be serious. You're not going to completely eliminate the threat, but you can lessen it. As for the potential lost revenue we already discussed that.

If 6 weeks cuts it too close for you let's say by the end of May. I really didn't think it needed to be that well defined.Later in the season doesn't have to be late in the season. Much of that can be balanced out in the first 6 weeks of a 27 week schedule.
But when it comes to parsing out home and away games it does need to be defined for the reasons I stated. If 6 weeks cuts it too close for you let's say by the end of May. I really didn't think it needed to be that well defined.
We're not striving for perfection here, we're trying to lessen early season games being reschedule as double headers or on scheduled off days later in the season. Rain outs put enough of strain on the schedule in that regard, but there's no way to plan around that. Early April games in some areas can be scheduled in domes or climates that are tradionally better suited for early season baseball. IMO, the schedule is better suited for this than it's ever been. You play each team twice. Example so Team(s) Shitty April Weather plays a few of their early series on the road vs Team(s) Dome/Nice Weather and they host the same team(s) in mid-late MayBut when it comes to parsing out home and away games it does need to be defined for the reasons I stated.
You're the schedule maker. The season starts on, say, (random date) Monday, April 1 of year 20XX. Tell us how you distribute home and away games through Memorial Day, keeping in mind that your proposal takes effect every year in perpetuity until the climate changes.
........which means that year after year Team Shitty Weather sells more tickets and generates more revenue by having games at a more opportune time of the season. We're not striving for perfection here, we're trying to lessen early season games being reschedule as double headers or on scheduled off days later in the season. So get it done by mid may. Again, not striving for perfection.........which means that year after year Team Shitty Weather sells more tickets and generates more revenue by having games at a more opportune time of the season.
Competitively, teams want home games late in the season. Revenue wise, teams want games between mid-May and Labor Day. That leaves April and early May as "shit time" no one wants. In the interest of competitive and financial balance, the "shit games" must be distributed equally.
Heck, we had 40 degree games on and off till late May!Honestly more Northeast and Midwest teams should push their home openers as late into the start of the season as they can to duck the perpetual bad weather of late March and early April. The Red Sox starting a season at home is begging for early rainouts and 40-degree games; might as well reduce those odds.
What you're suggesting is:So get it done by mid may. Again, not striving for perfection.
It certainly is a weird hill to die on. He’s acting like he’s never heard of something so outrageous. Why is TPGC so grumpy about this attendance situation? Looks like attendance is identical in April & May, so if everything is fair by the end of May, shouldn't be an issue, right?

If you're one of the 14 teams I mentioned, do you want April 1-15 home every year vs May 1-15?It certainly is a weird hill to die on. He’s acting like he’s never heard of something so outrageous.
It doesn't have to be every team every year. You're failing to grasp the concept of me not striving for perfection. What you're suggesting is:
Miami, Tampa, Houston, Texas, Arizona, SD, Oakland, LA, LAA, SF, Seattle, Toronto, Milwaukee, and Atlanta open with a 10-14 game homestand every single year? So the entire AL Central and 80% of the NL Central starts at home in mid-April? Good luck getting that through the MLBPA and the owners backing that.
So it's not every team every year. So it's random. Kinda like it is now?It doesn't have to be every team every year. You're failing to grasp the concept of me not striving for perfection.
If I’m MLB, I want fewer shitty April games, and I really don’t think it makes much difference whether games in other parks are in April or May. But either way, you just seem a little too strident about this issue. If you're one of the 14 teams I mentioned, do you want April 1-15 home every year vs May 1-15?
Hell, it might not be in the Top 10 this weekOf all the weird things we have gotten into arguments about on this site, this might be top 10.
Buy an extra ticket for Elijah?Angels out here are during Passover, of course.
I forgot we were cycling back to this visit already. Very pumped to have the chance to go to a few actual local games (sans Orange County freeway crawls).Sox at Dodger Stadium. I'm in.
