The benefits of having an ex-Cub GM ...Passan saying Bryant to SF
I'm not sure the Phils could pull the trigger on that fast enoughFun distraction from the non action:
@PeterBotte
If the Phillies ever get Matt Harvey, they’d have had Lee, Harvey, Oswalt and Kennedy.

Noteable that neither team really was expected to contend like they have, and neither, for different reasons, are in a good position to outbid for other teams players in this kind of market. Two of the best teams in baseball (by record), the Giants and Red Sox, have thus far done nothing or very little. No guarantees, but winning the offseason or trade deadline--as judged by the media--does not always translate to winning where it matters.
Well, that should narrow the market for Schoop...sigh...
It's not happening.Well, that should narrow the market for Schoop...sigh...
Well that’s it - guess the move was Schwarber
Cue the “Well, there it is” Jeff Goldblum gif
Would be ridiculous given this market if he doesn't go of all people. How does Colorado not trade Trevor Story, jfc
Its just so insane because in most years you'd think Schwarber + Sale would be one of the better mid seasons adds you could imagine. My goodness is this year different. Historic activityAlright, unless there's a last minute scoop on Schoop, we're rolling with what we got plus Schwarber and Sale.
Oh, the poor locker room, how will they manage to play out the season? So the Giants, the last remaining team that hadn’t made a move, finally do something. Can’t wait to hear Chaim’s spin on this, including how he’ll sell this to the locker room. “Nice season so far guys, unfortunately we didn’t want to pay for any help for you unlike every other team you’re going to play moving forward. Good luck!”
Yup-- I noted that my post did not hold up for more than two minutes.....Well, glad for the Giants, since I really don't want to see the Dodger leviathan crush everyone before them this fall.Noteable that neither team really was expected to contend like they have, and neither, for different reasons, are in a good position to outbid for other teams players in this kind of market.
And...there goes that point if the Giants get Bryant.
HE MADE A FUCKING TRADE YESTERDAY. Just because you don't like what he got doesn't mean the clubhouse is going to think he failed them.So the Giants, the last remaining team that hadn’t made a move, finally do something. Can’t wait to hear Chaim’s spin on this, including how he’ll sell this to the locker room. “Nice season so far guys, unfortunately we didn’t want to pay for any help for you unlike every other team you’re going to play moving forward. Good luck!”
Personally, I'm going to wait and see how things look a year from now.I know most people didn't agree with this sentiment, but I liked it more when we weren't run by a Tampa guy and acted like the big market team that we are.
Did you sleep through yesterday? So the Giants, the last remaining team that hadn’t made a move, finally do something. The big market team you are pining for traded away a lot of their prospects and others made the big leagues. The farm system needs to be rebuilt.I know most people didn't agree with this sentiment, but I liked it more when we weren't run by a Tampa guy and acted like the big market team that we are.
Nomar was at least 15-20 minute after, IIRC.As an aside, every year I hold out hope that after 4pm there will be something late announced. Seems there never is
Big market team in the middle of a great season with a patchwork holdover rebuild while the long-term plan plays out.I know most people didn't agree with this sentiment, but I liked it more when we weren't run by a Tampa guy and acted like the big market team that we are.
Oh. Can you give me the final AL East standings so I can make a wager?I like the Schwarber move, but overall a failure of a deadline unless something happens in the next 30 seconds.
And it doesn't mean that they won't. None of us know what is going to happen.HE MADE A FUCKING TRADE YESTERDAY. Just because you don't like what he got doesn't mean the clubhouse is going to think he failed them.
Their payroll is 7th in baseball and they'll likely be top 5 or higher again soon. Meanwhile, Chaim has built a contender from a shitheap in 2020 and we have an actual farm system again. I mean, have some perspective.I know most people didn't agree with this sentiment, but I liked it more when we weren't run by a Tampa guy and acted like the big market team that we are.
Sorry, but if your reinforcements are a guy that can’t play for another two weeks at a position TBA + a pitcher coming off a major surgery that’s going to pitch maybe 7 games down the stretch while everyone around you gets markedly better it’s not enough.Did you sleep through yesterday?
Bloom young and relatively inexperienced. Was he in over his head for this important trade deadline?I know most people don't agree with this sentiment, but I liked it more when we weren't run by a Tampa guy and acted like the big market team that we are.
Google "AL East Standings."Can I ask those of you in the camp of "In Chaim we Trust", why you trust him? I'm not saying I don't trust him, but I just don't see what he's brought us yet.
