As a neutral observer, my take on David Price is he’s a very intelligent man with Vanderbilt in his background, and a willingness to speak out on issues, sometimes in a self-serving way, other times in a keenly observational manner. He is not unlike Curt Schilling, another bright guy not reluctant to share his opinions with the world. I don’t see racism in Price’s treatment here in Boston, just disappointment by his performance that eventually was put to rest in the autumn of 2018. Schilling disappointed us in a different way, in a disturbing way, long after his career was over. There was a negative reaction from most of us to his political views, which is our problem as much as Curt’s.
Both of these men spoke from their own vastly different hearts. They both played on championship teams in Boston. And neither really fit in. Pretty sure they won’t be retiring to New England when they grow older.
