There must be alternative apps.
I stopped watching the NFL 2 seasons ago, so you're asking the wrong guy your question there.

Zuppardi's doesn't have to do shit and you don't need to stop going there. That's ridiculous. But consumers of the app (which is what this discussion was about), should realize that there's really, really no shortage of pizza coverage out there. Zuppardi's itself has been featured in Lonely Planet, a Thrillist-produced TV show, and the freaking New York Times (where arguably the most famous food writer in the world called it the best clam pie he's ever had). I can't stress this enough: you really don't need to support the misogynist dumpster fire that is Barstool Sports in order to find good pizza. There is a local pizza place about 2 minutes from my house called Zuppardi's. They make excellent pizza and are family owned and run. I doubt that they had any clue about Barstool or what it stood for before he walked in. The owners are seniors and not into podcasts or talk radio. They just looked at it as being an honor to serve a customer and maybe get some local publicity. I know for a fact that they did not look up Barstool's past positions before agreeing to serve him. I do not take Zuppardi's agreement to serve Barstool as a clear endorsement of Barstool's politics.
So @LoseRemersal you saying that I should stop going to my local pizza place just because they served a pie to Barstool once? I mean the owners did not know what Barstool was beforehand. Why penalize them
Re-read what Lose said:Lose was stating that every single pizza place that served Barstool should be avoided since by serving them, the place is implicitly endorsing Barstool's politics. I think that is ridiculous and extreme. I guess we agree to disagree.
I like great pizza but I'm not going to buy it from a place with a political sign outside that I disagree strongly with. Similarly I won't download someone who I disagree with's app that provides him with revenue or at least numbers supporting him or his product. Just like there are hotels in NYC with a certain name on them I'll never stay in, etc, etc.
When the hell did he say that?Lose was stating that every single pizza place that served Barstool should be avoided since by serving them, the place is implicitly endorsing Barstool's politics. I think that is ridiculous and extreme. I guess we agree to disagree.
Are you saying I shouldn’t go to my physician??!?
Its now just a singular host with Alex running the show. Sofia's boyfriend aka suitman (an HBO executive) had the balls to try to move the podcast someplace else while they were under contract with Barstool. Backstabbing happened between the girls and Barstool just did a deal with Alex.Nothing here about the Call Her Daddy intrigue?

Yeah, Portnoy has been trolling "Suitman" nonstop. Its now just a singular host with Alex running the show. Sofia's boyfriend aka suitman (an HBO executive) had the balls to try to move the podcast someplace else while they were under contract with Barstool. Backstabbing happened between the girls and Barstool just did a deal with Alex.
Nfl reasoning: “he failed a background check”I don't think he's capable, but RG could turn this whole thing around and be a good sport. Wear one of the clown shirts. Engage in some back and forth. Problem is, I don't think Portnoy is capable of dialing it back just a little bit so RG will play along. And really, I don't think RG has it in him to actually play along. They did ban barstool from all NFL things during Super Bowl week.. And had Portnoy kicked out of the Rams one. We'll see.
$250K is $250K and they'll have to do something. I think RedOctober is right and they'll just match the donation so they can save face.
Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy won’t be allowed to watch a “Monday Night Football” game with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodelldespite being the high bidder for that experience during the NFL’s charity auction to support COVID-19 relief during the April draft, the league said today.
Portnoy, who won the auction with a $250,000 bid, failed a background check that was a precondition to follow through on the invite to Goodell’s home for a game, NFL VP/Communications Brian McCarthy said. The background check noted Portnoy’s multiple encounters with NFL security and the '11 incident in which he posted a nude photo of Tom Brady’s then-2-year-old son on Barstool.
The league also pointed to his arrest in '15 for trespassing at the NFL’s Park Avenue HQ during the Deflategate scandal, and trespassing in '16 that he posted online. Also, the league noted incidents at Super Bowl LIII week in Atlanta '19, including falsifying credentials for the opening night media interviews, and then violating a ban by attending the game itself later that week.
“He was the highest bidder, but the bid was contingent upon a background check,” McCarthy said. “So he consented to the background check, and it came back and he heard from the NFL today that he did not pass the background check. He will not be the winner.”
https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/SB-Blogs/Breaking-News/2020/05/Portnoy-NFL.aspxThe NFL will instead donate $250,000 equally to the six charities it was supporting during the draft-a-thon, and will select a “deserving front line worker” from the pandemic for the experience. Portnoy said he was informed his credit card won’t be charged.
Why? They donated the money so no one is hurt by this.NFL just gets it all wrong, again.
Roger had a real chance to make himself look good if he played this right. He chose to continue being the heel. Why? They donated the money so no one is hurt by this.
The NFL still left Portnoy’s money on the table. Take his money and still donate the 250k and it’s double for the charity. Ban Portnoy from bringing his phone and you can ruin it for him that way. Why? They donated the money so no one is hurt by this.
Hate to say it, but I was right. There was no way RG was going to do anything with Portnoy.
They had a chance to get an incremental $250,000 to charity, all for the cost of Roger Goodell sucking it up for a few hours. They decided that the $250,000 to charity that Portnoy was willing to pay wasn't worth the bother to Goodell. Why? They donated the money so no one is hurt by this.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the original plan wasn't the money from the auction winner plus a match from the NFL, right? So the charities are getting the same money either way. They had a chance to get an incremental $250,000 to charity, all for the cost of Roger Goodell sucking it up for a few hours. They decided that the $250,000 to charity that Portnoy was willing to pay wasn't worth the bother to Goodell.
It takes a real piece of work to make Dave Portnoy look like a sympathetic case.
Portnoy wouldn't have let this happen. He would have pushed and pushed and pushed. He would have been a complete asshole, and would have posted the entire video online.imo it's much less about Portnoy but rather Goodell. As has been mentioned numerous times it'd be a huge PR win for Roger if he just smiled and had a laugh over the whole thing. Maybe even put on the blue clown t-shirt. Instant win.
The money is fungible. NFL could have donated their side of it at any point, but they are effectively refusing Portnoy's money. He was prepared to pay $250k of his investors' / customers' money to get a few hours with Goodell. I bet he would have negotiated on terms (e.g. no cell phones). Instead, the NFL paid $250k to not take his money (for charity).Correct me if I'm wrong, but the original plan wasn't the money from the auction winner plus a match from the NFL, right? So the charities are getting the same money either way.
Now if Portnoy were to donate his $250K on his own, on top of the NFL donation, I might buy him being a sympathetic case. At the very least, he'd have the appearance of genuinely caring about the purpose of the auction (to raise money for the charities) rather than his own self-gratifying crusade to harass Goodell. He's a dick, he had an obvious agenda, and they denied him. And frankly, I don't blame them. If the auction prize was dinner at a public place rather than Goodell's private home, I might be more inclined to think Portnoy had been wronged. Everybody has the right to deny someone else entry to their home, no matter how much that someone is willing to pay for the privilege. I have no love for the NFL or Goodell, but Portnoy is neither a victim nor a sympathetic case here.
Maybe, maybe not. As far as I can see whenever Portnoy is in the company of someone "famous" he's nothing but warm & personable. I have no doubt there would've been jokes at RG's expense, or grilling him on deflategate/ spygate but in reality there's a limit to how much he could do. It's just watching a game at Goodell's house. It's not like he's gonna show up with a case of banana creme pies to launch at his face.Portnoy wouldn't have let this happen. He would have pushed and pushed and pushed. He would have been a complete asshole, and would have posted the entire video online.
No. He would have been an unmitigated asshole. And he would have profited off of it. It was win win for him.Maybe, maybe not. Portnoy was going to win regardless of the outcome. Goodell would've been better just to have a laugh about it.No. He would have been an unmitigated asshole. And he would have profited off of it. It was win win for him.
Look at the tweet directly above your post.Portnoy was going to win regardless of the outcome. Goodell would've been better just to have a laugh about it.
Not sure your point here.Look at the tweet directly above your post.
Portnoy is an ongoing pandemic. In the end, Portnoy wins (if he can pull this off in an ongoing pandemic). Probably should just donate all proceeds to charity for good measure.

How is Portnoy now winning this? He was thiiisss close to getting some sympathy from people on the fence (not me, I think he's a piece of shit) and then he drops that tweet. Just as Goodell could have had a laugh about it, Portnoy knew what he was doing and could have come out the bigger man by just shutting the eff up and donating the money to charity, with a middle of the road line about being disappointed by Goodell's decision here. Instead he stoked the fire. Not sure your point here.
Attention. Same thing he’s been doing for the last 15 years. He’s awesome at marketing. How is Portnoy now winning this? Bingo. Barstool comes out the winner here big time while Goodell and the NFL are the loser. This will only fuel more money towards Barstool as the NFL looks like petty assholes.Attention. Same thing he’s been doing for the last 15 years. He’s awesome at marketing.

"Getting attention" is no the same as "marketing." My cat knows how to "get attention." A 4-year old knows how to "get attention."Attention. Same thing he’s been doing for the last 15 years. He’s awesome at marketing.
Actually, attention is literally marketing for Bartstool. How can you even argue otherwise? If that's "winning," then Goodell made the right choice.

Fair enough. I have conflated the fact that he is an unrepentent asshole with the fact that he has monetized being an unrepentent asshole.Talk to me when this cat or 4 year old builds a company that gets acquired for $450M.
That's one of the better thing Barstool has done! The ones arrested were not the looters.apparently portnoy and minihane are in a bit of a beef after kirk called out (rightfully) what bullshit it is that some barstool peeps are tweeting out requests to donate to a fund that will assist people with bail after being arrested during the riots.
