Leafs gave up an ENG with 2:06 left to go down 4-1. They then gave up 2 more with the goalie back in to lose 6-1.
It seemed unusually cold in the building and the ice was clearly still terribleBruce mentions he thought the ice was tough and the puck was bouncing again. I thought they made the necessary upgrades to fix this. It's unacceptable to have bad ice this time of the year.
They’ve already commented on the seat situation. Ice surface is probably next. The remodel looks great on the outside of the building, but inside it’s been a disaster.I'm sure the players are noting their displeasure, but do the Bruins as an organization have to comment on the ice? Its been consistently not great this season.
That and the division being surprisingly bad. Who'd have thought the Lightning and the Leafs would be bottom 3rd teams?Wow, I hadn't realized just how much separation from the rest of the division this run has created. I guess L10 records of 5-5 and 5-4-1 will not really cut it when chasing a 9-0-1.
It really would be nice to have a lesser team to play in the 1st round rather than a meat grinder in either Tampa or Toronto. But as the Lightning can attest to, sometimes it just doesn't matter what seed a team is.Tampa’s off to a slow start, no doubt, but they have played the fewest games in the league. They are on pace for 95 points which is well below any preseason projection but good ending for second in the division right now. I think they’ll turn it around. Handicapping, I’d still put them as a threat to the division.
Toronto has been more of a tire fire. They are on pace for 85 points. I think Keefe’s a good coach and they’ll respond to him but that was really the only major play they had to jumpstart the team. They still can’t defend and on top of that the backup goalie situation is a a mess. Their cap and prospect situation makes fixing any of these issues via trade trade unlikely.
That said, I think we’re still looking at Bruins, Bolts, Leafs 1-3 in the division. Tampa and Toronto left the for someone else to jump in and seize control of an Atlantic playoff spot but Montreal, Buffalo and Florida have shat themselves.
Yeah, Tampa certainly has a good shot at turning it around - their +10 goal differential is tied for 10th in the league and 6th in the Eastern, so they should pick up points at a faster pace than they have done. Though, even if they win the games in hand they have on the Bs, they are still 10 points back.Tampa’s off to a slow start, no doubt, but they have played the fewest games in the league. This is why I think standings should be ranked by points per game, earned points %, or point pace (same idea, expressed different ways).Tampa’s off to a slow start, no doubt, but they have played the fewest games in the league. They are on pace for 95 points...
