Severino was a pitch away from one of these yesterday in the 4th against DET, he impressively got Cabrera and Candelario and had Goodrum 0-2, but then he threw a slider which broke in and hit him, ah well.Max Scherzer pulled off the second "immaculate inning" (9-pitch 3 K) of his career tonight in the 6th inning against the Rays. While it's a bit of a novelty accomplishment, every other pitcher who has done it twice – Lefty Grove, Randy Johnson, Sandy Koufax and Nolan Ryan – is in the Hall of Fame. Scherzer was efficient all night and struck out 13 over 8 innings on just 99 pitches and no walks.
Doesn't Buchholz have 2 of these? Or is it only 1?Max Scherzer pulled off the second "immaculate inning" (9-pitch 3 K) of his career tonight in the 6th inning against the Rays. I keep telling my Mets-fan friend that they will never be successful until the Wilpon's are gone. They remind me a little of the pre-John Henry Red Sox and the Cubs for decades; teams in large markets that are constantly sabotaged by incompetent ownership. The Mets suck so bad and I just wanted to pop in here to say I hope all bad things continue to happen to the team until the Wilpons sell.
They gave up 3 runs in two games against the powerhouse Orioles and lost both. That's not an easy thing to do, for a variety of reasons. Keep sucking Mets, keep sucking.
Incompetent and criminal ownership, in the Wilpons case.I keep telling my Mets-fan friend that they will never be successful until the Wilpon's are gone. Too bad. You knew something was off with all the walks. At least we can still watch him hit.Ohtani's blister is back, just left the game.
Yes… another outfielder, preferably a RHH, could help add some consistency to the lineup, but the bullpen pretty much completely explains the difference between performance and expectations. They let Brian Shaw and Joe Smith walk without adding anyone on a major league contract. Meanwhile Andrew Miller hasn't been healthy since the first 3 weeks of the season, and Nick Goody, who was the top candidate to step up into higher leverage situations this year had a string of bad games at the same time and went on the DL a week later with elbow inflammation. Zach McAllister and Dan Otero fell apart when put in higher leverage spots (McAllister has been half decent the past month). On another note, I am surprised by how mediocre the Indians look so far this year. Is it primarily just a bad bullpen bringing them down? They should have a decent record just by beating up on other teams in the Central, but they cant seem to get it together. I suppose they can coast into the playoffs just because of their division, and that rotation can do anything in the playoffs, but it just seems like they have taken a big step back
It’s fun watching Maddon’s relief pitcher run into a wall, not your own. That's fun until your relief pitcher runs into the wall.
This just made Hand a must get for Houston. I wouldn't be surprised to see NY try to steal him.
goes for 2-4 in the second game. The kid is 19, we might be seeing the emergence of a real superstar down in DC. Really exciting to see. Opens up the Nats options re:Harper, especially considering they have Viktor Robles(McCutcheon lite or Lorenzo Cain comp) waiting to hit the big leagues when he gets healthyJuan Soto goes into the record books as hitting a home run five days _before_ his major league debut.

I don't see NY giving up what it would take to get Hand, but at some point Cashman is going to do something bold. I don't think it will be for Hand, but it could be.This just made Hand a must get for Houston. I wouldn't be surprised to see NY try to steal him.
I think the judges were looking for "he pulled a Kevin Brown".Hunter Strickland blew a 2 run lead in the 9th against the lowly Marlins last year. He promptly then pulled a Carson Smith:
"Hunter Strickland punched a door after coming out of game last night. He fractured his pitching hand and is having surgery. Out at least six to eight weeks."
Left Diaz in the bullpen?Scott Servais pulls a Showalter and blows the game against the Yanks.
1-1 going into the bottom of the 8th and somehow 7-7 just seven outs later.the Orioles score 6 in the 9th to come back and take a 7-3 lead at Atlanta...
Zach Britton: single, double, HBP, single, single, double. 7-7 with a runner thrown out at home and winning run at 3rd.
