He's not a very good quarterback. He may play in the NFL, but probably at a different position, like Terrelle PryorJT Barrett has not impressed tonight
He’s more of an EJ Manuel prospect. Doubt he moves position, just ends up a shitty QB.He's not a very good quarterback. He may play in the NFL, but probably at a different position, like Terrelle Pryor
I know. Davis was blatantly tackled by the DBHow do the refs miss the DPI on that play, and only call the offensive holding? Offsetting penalties there would have been completely different than a 1st and 20 result.
Yup. I've been talking to one of my Wisconsin friends. He's absolutely livid, and rightly so.That missed DPI absolutely ended the drive. Just a terrible missed call.
Georgia, Clemson, and OK are locks. The last is either Alabama or Ohio StateAgree on Alabama. Who else is in? Georgia?
Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia &...... OSU is my guess.Agree on Alabama. Who else is in? Georgia?
Computer-based for the last 3. I’ve had my fill of people picking teams based on “feelings.”If there were an eight team playoff...
Automatic byes to Pac-12, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC champs would put in USC, OSU, Oklahoma, Clemson and Georgia.
Figure Alabama earns the sixth spot with just one loss, which wasn't terrible.
The conference runners-up either looked like shit (Wisconsin, Miami, TCU) or have three losses (Stanford, Auburn).
I'd guess one-loss Wisconsin and Miami would get the last two spots... but I'd like to think Central Florida could find a slot if there were 8 teams.
Actually it's the woman from the Daily Show doing a stand-up set and shrieking unbearably.Awful non call. 12th round of Cotto's last fight on free HBO. Go watch.
I watched a lot of the fight, and I'm so glad the judges didn't screw Ali, and give the win to Cotto as a farewell cigar. If it was in another location, I think that might have happened. It was actually a really good fight. Cotto is such a warrior.Awful non call. 12th round of Cotto's last fight on free HBO. Go watch.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised they gave it to Ali. Usually those farewell fights go to the hometown hero. Cotto just got gassed and caught a couple times too many.I watched a lot of the fight, and I'm so glad the judges didn't screw Ali, and give the win to Cotto as a farewell cigar. Yes after a month of no college football we absolutely want more football. Without questionThe argument for 8 makes no sense. Taking the 5 conference winners does nothing to guarantee those 5 are even the top 8 teams in the nation. Under the argument that Miami is likely number 8, do we really want to see them play Clemson (at Clemson) in a month? After what we just saw today.
I say that because most of the proposals for 8 have round 1 at home campus sites. Eight is a mess, we’ve got today’s games, 3 of which were actual quarterfinal games and we really want to do this all again in a month?
About half of teams in college football start the year knowing that no matter what they do they will not have a chance to win the National Championship. Any playoff system that doesn't address this problem makes no sense. The argument for 8 makes no sense. Absolutely. No point having 8 without giving a non power 5 a chance every year, so long as that non power 5 is undefeated and/or in the top 15. This year it would easily be the 5 conference champs, ucf, and Alabama plus one more team (probably Wisconsin). The last spot would be the only debate, and I wouldn't feel the least bit sorry for whatever teams get left out. If you haven't proven to be top 8 at this point, boo hoo.If they go to 8 teams they should guarantee 1 non power 5 conference, plus the 5 champs. Then theoretically every team would have a chance to play for the national title on opening day, plus give power 5 teams more incentive to schedule real ooc games.
I am on the same side. The argument for 8 makes no sense. Taking the 5 conference winners does nothing to guarantee those 5 are even the top 8 teams in the nation. Again why does Alabama go automatically? They finished second in their division, why jump Auburn who whipped them 8 days ago just because Auburn had to play another game against a top 5 team? You can't reward teams for failling to make the conference championship gameAbsolutely. It seems clear that a non-power 5 school (outside of ND) simply can't go to the football playoff. UCF went 12-0, won their conference championship beating a top-20 team (Memphis), and had a +291 point differential. In a year when there were no undefeated teams in power-5 play, where now there's a debate about Alabama vs. Ohio State, one of which got routed by Auburn and didn't make their conference championship, and the other of which got obliterated by Iowa and has two losses.I am on the same side.
We are sitting here in a situation where only 3 teams deserve to go, so we are saying the solution is to invite 8 teams instead of 4.
And if you did then you add I guess USC, Bama, OGU. then who? I guess you let UCF in, and then Wiscy, Miami, Auburn for the 8 spot?
Yeah, they won all of their games, none of which were too special. Even Memphis (UCF's best wins) is a product of their schedule. It seems clear that a non-power 5 school (outside of ND) simply can't go to the football playoff. Now I don't think UCF is one of the best 5 teams in the country. And that's what this is supposed to be about. But they did everything they could do to get in, and did it in a year when there clearly is an opening, and UCF isn't even gonna get a sniff at that fourth spot. Like, not even considered.
They rewarded Ohio State last year for not making their conference title game so the precedent is there.Again why does Alabama go automatically? The ultimate stupidity in the current situation is that there are people suggesting that Fresno St. was not able to beat Boise St 2 straight weeks with the second one being a 3 point lose on Boise's home field, and this should impact who gets to play for the national titel
Yeah, I have always favored the eight game playoff but now I'm quite unconvinced. The fact that we are torn between who is 4 and who is 5 doesn't make me think they should go to eight; this year there are exactly three teams that deserve to be in the playoff and the fourth team is going to be there as a default. I wish there was a way to leave out both Ohio State and Alabama. The argument for 8 makes no sense. Taking the 5 conference winners does nothing to guarantee those 5 are even the top 8 teams in the nation. The precedent may be there, but Ohio State beat three top-10 teams (two on the road and one blowout) and its only loss was on a blocked FG to the conference champion. Alabama has none of that. They're a lot closer to 2015 Ohio State, whose late loss doomed them and finished behind two-loss champion Stanford. They rewarded Ohio State last year for not making their conference title game so the precedent is there.
