I agree on both counts. Awesomely fun game, and not just the ending sequence. Converted the 2nd and 20, converted the 4th and 11. Let's not forget things earlier than that last drive, either - the flea-flicker for a touchdown, the would-be-interception that tipped the ball to the WR for the 65 yard score, some great throws and catches and defensive plays.
The penalties were clear fouls by each side - it wasn't "refball", if the refs failed to call those, it would have been far more obnoxious to the cause of sporting justice.
1. "Hey Oakland won - what a throw-and-catch down the sideline by Cooks" -- oh wait, he was down.
2. "Hey Oakland won - wow, the fade never works, good play" -- oh wait, Crabtree shoved off. The defender flopped, but it was still OPI.
3. "Hey KC won - the ball went right through his hands" -- oh wait, yeah, that's holding. Okay, guess we'll do it again.
4. "Hey KC won - Patterson caught it out of bounds!" -- oh, man, yeah that's holding TOO! Jeez, ok, doing it again.
5. "Hey Oakland won - no doubt about that one! Comebacker to the cone".
Like, which of the 3 obvious, game-outcome-changing penalties shouldn't the officials have called? I think they got it all right, and frankly, it added to the drama.
