If it’s a two-year deal he really won’t need to. He isn’t likely to win a full roster spot and compete for minutes until ‘23-‘24.
Professional athletes aren't known for being realists. You're correct that he probably will stay the entire 2 years at Partizan but from quotes in the media, I'm pretty sure Yam is telling his agent to make sure he can come to the NBA next year.

He can want a lot of things but if all the Celtics offer is a cheap two-way deal it isn’t going to matter. Maybe he’ll make a big physical leap in the next year to show the Celtics that he can compete for rotation minutes......but I see him as at least two years away for that. I do agree that he almost certainly demanded an out and these Euro teams can be real savvy with this stuff. Pay 250 for a buyout and get 400 on theirs, etc

I like Madar but I think whether he plays a game in the NBA or not is a coinflip at this point. I think there's a very good chance he'd make more money internationally than he would sitting on the end of an NBA bench.
He would still need to really improve in order to make more oversees than in the NBA, IMO.

In general, the highest paid players oversees have at least shown something in the NBA. And let's not forget the NBA minimum after rookie year is almost 1.5 million dollars

Not entirely pessimistic, so there's still hope. I think he's a long shot though.
I’m not pessimistic at all of Madar eventually playing in the league. I just don’t expect it anytime soon as he’s so physically underdeveloped. The kid is still just 21 and seems like he loves the game. I don’t see any reason why he can’t have a similar curve as Campazzo who didn’t get here until he was 29-30.

After starting off badly and getting benched for most of the first game (an OT thriller vs. Finland), Yam was much better in Israel's 2nd game of the Eurobasket tonight vs. Netherlands.

He finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes off the bench. He also had a steal and shot 5/10 from the field, 4/8 for 3 including this end of the shot clock dagger from the logo to basically ice the game:

Israel improves to 2-0 behind Deni Avdija, giving them a good chance to advance from a group that includes Serbia (also 2-0), Finland (1-1), Poland (1-1), Czech Republic (0-2) and Netherlands (0-2).

From The Athletic:

Juhann Begarin, Boston’s 2021 second-round pick, has signed a two-year deal with French club Nanterre and will not come to Boston this upcoming season. Israeli point guard Yam Madar, 22, who Boston drafted in 2020, could still arrive for training camp after his international duties this summer.

Boston has room on the back end of its roster for a point guard with good pace control and vision like Madar, though he still has a lot of development both in his skills and physicality to be ready for the NBA. But multiple league sources believe Madar felt should be ready for a two-way this upcoming season.

I'm a bit surprised on JB, as there's a role for a defensive minded wing in the course of a long season, especially with Walsh being so young. Couldn't he fit that bill? At some point soon don't they have to see what he can do against NBA competition?

Is Davison graduating to a guaranteed contract? I’d expect Walsh to be getting one two-way deal and wouldn’t be surprised if they want size (Kabengele/Azubuike) with the other. Those two-ways might be instrumental in massaging the end of the roster and staying under the second apron.

He can't shoot, he's not coming over until he can, no reason to start his clock when he's getting good playing time in Europe to develop.

Most speculation is that Walsh is getting a real deal and Davison will be a late decision on whether he gets #15 or a two-way again.

Walsh is 100% getting a multi-year with at least partial guarantee. This has been the market for high 2nd round draft picks recently.

Do you think that they’ll carry 15 or go with the minimum 14 and a pair of two-way players?

Are you expecting a Carsen Edwards’ type of 4 year / $4.5M deal?

There are now 2nd round salary exceptions, He’s getting a standard rookie deal.

Kennedy Chandler was drafted #38 last year and signed essentially a 4 year/$7M deal with roughly $5M guaranteed.
The new second round exceptions start this summer. Last year you still had to tip into your MLE or BAE to pay players more than vet minimum.
