Why would anyone on this board want the Mets to win? Their fans are so arrogant and full of themselves. You can never forget 1986.

DIsagree, good throw he's out by at least 5 feet, mediocre throw he's out
Yes. Duda had some sort of a brain cramp that extended to his arm. Good aggressive gamble by Hosmer, but he was dead to rights with any kind if throw can actually be caught. Duda and Cespedes have been poison to this Mets team in this WS.

@AdamRubinESPN: So the Mets have been 4 outs, 5 outs and 3 outs from wins and Royals have stormed back each time.

They're a gritty bunch

In hindsight, Wright's nonchalance on the flip didn't set him up for success. Took him a moment to recognize and react...

I wonder how long the Royals can keep this core together. It looks like they're going to have to start paying some of the key guys soon..

I don't think it was nonchalance .. He simply can't throw with any authority. He has to throw with that exaggerated sidearm due to his back problem.

I joined this board because of the shared Yankee hatred :) (also being in Boston in '03-'04 was fun)

I think you're thinking of Yankees fans; Mets fans constantly expect the worst (I've seen more walk-off walks, errors, balks, you name it than I really care to remember)

I'm actually rooting for the Mets, but I'll say this. The Royals are where they are because they are an incredibly disciplined team. The Mets are a talented team that plays a pretty raggedy brand of baseball.

Plus, if the Mets lose this as I expect they will, Collins letting Harvey talk him into letting him back out there has to go down as an all-time managerial blunder. That old-school macho crap may excite announcers, but it's just not how the game is played anymore. Bring in your closer to start the inning. Pretty straightforward decision.

I know I shouldn't like them, but I love those young starters, and most Mets fans I know are decent people who hate the Yankees almost as much as I do.

Also when Pedro pitched for the Mets I watched those games and rooted for him when I could, so I've got a soft spot for them from that time period.

I was 2 in 1986, so that's helps as well.

Yankees fans are arrogant, Mets fans are the opposite of arrogant. They suffer from low self esteem and are prone to outbursts of whiny self loathing.

Mets fans really aren't any worse than most other fans.  Including, if we're being honest, Boston's.  Me, I'll certainly take them over fans of the Yankees, Cardinals, or Orioles.  And of course we do have a common enemy in the MFY.

There are a lot of likable Mets -- DeGrom, Syndegaard, and Matz for sure... Granderson and Wright and Uribe too.  Really only Murphy is an obvious douche (and Harvey seems to be headed that way despite his apparent better instincts).

If the Mets lose, does Terry Collins lose his job? Between the Harvey thing and Cespedes, both are huge non-moves in this game. Or is that too extreme?

They can choose not to pick up his option. I would seriously consider it because the Mets are the Royals a year ago.

@jonmorosi: Wow: If #Royals win tonight, they will be 1st team EVER with 3 or more wins in World Series after trailing in 8th or later. (h/t STATS LLC)
