Jesus christ Duda, he was out by 5 feet
On that replay, it definitely looks like a good throw would've gotten him.  Ball was past d'Arnaud before a sliding Hosmer entered the picture.

I can't believe FOX is completely on KC's side on this... yes Hosmer got a maximum jump but he still would have been out with a decent throw.  It was a shitty throw.

Took Joe and Harold about 10 pitches to acknowledge he'd have been out with a decent throw. After 2 minutes of "great base running".

All on Duda. Terrible throw.

Wright started the shitshow by crossing in front of Flores. Wright's momentum is taking him away from Hosmer on 3B where as Flores doesn't have to crow hop a million times to get a soft throw off.

It's not like Gordon has been a scrub this series, he's a big reason why they're up 3-1. If it was Rios on deck, I would have understood the aggression better.

Wright going for the ball was the problem. If he lets the SS handle it he has a better arm/angle .. Plus Wright can retreat to third and Hosmer can't get as big a lead.

Wright kind of checked him back to 3rd; the thing there is even if Wright lets it go, the 3B being so far away from 3B means he could get a ridiculous lead anyway, there's no-one Flores is going to throw it to. Homer gets thrown out, it's an easy end to the threat and the game's over.

That's just on Duda; he's just in his first postseason, and rushed more than he had to

True in retrospect. But a third baseman almost always takes it if he has a shot.
Just a terrible throw by Duda.

It was still great baserunning. Forced Duda to make a tough play, and he didn't.

Bottom line, Mets are playing tight. Royals playing like it's little league.

Yep, completely (well, Royals playing like they have a 3-1 series lead and can be extra aggressive, but they're always that way)

Yea and I generally dislike the play. I don't know why it's taught. I'm sure there is a reason but I hate it.

He forced the action and made Duda make a good throw to get him.  Not a slam dunk, but a decent gamble.

Oh it's a great gamble up 3-1, but that's a throw that a MLB player has to make in that situation.

To be fair, it was wayyy too risky for the circumstances at this level. He just got rewarded. Throwing from first to home isn't hard.
