Did they hire Reynolds to squeeze Buck's nuts?

Maybe McCarver wasn't squeezing hard enough. But damn, the game is over and he's calling it like it's the 7th game and the tying run just scored.

Yet we get "It is caught"

FYI - this is why DeGrom wasn't pulled earlier.

DeGrom was getting hit, but off hard-hit grounders that find holes, not extra base hits over the outfielders
Sure, but many more pitches in the fifth inning and deGrom's arm would have fallen off. That was a really bad stress inning.

That's right!

I'm still optimistic, it seems like KC's park is playing extremely big, and I'm not sure this Mets team is a great match for a big park that's hard to hit the ball out of. Citi Field should be a bit different (optimistically).

Realistically, the offense needs to get going; they're just not getting on base and stringing hits together, which was hidden a bit by Murphy going insane

Yeah I don't mean pulling him when they did eventually, but earlier in that inning when a few hits had dropped in

This was so key, IMO.  He basically carried the offense.  Meanwhile, the Cubs swing and miss style was a great match-up for the Mets' power pitchers.

And most importantly, lots of people have underestimated how good this Royals team is.

I can never get enough of these. Fuck 'em and fuck '86. I will never root for anything Mets related after 1986. Never.
I want to make sweet love to this post.

Fuck the Mets.

Right in their collective ear.

I hope they get swept.

Getting swept is too good for them. I'm rooting for an excruciating loss in the 7th game. I hate the Mets but I want all the baseball we can get.

I thought about that, but I'm doing a collectibles show in Hackensack NJ on Sunday and I want to see numerous ballbags wearing Mets gear wandering around with a defeated look on their faces down 3 zip...................a four game sweep will be humiliating considering a number of them I talked to thought this series was going to be a walk over for them.

Just like they thought 1986 was going to be.

Ok; brainfart. By the time Sunday rolls around, this should be over.

Even better.

All hail, rembrat, philosopher-king of the sans-culottes!

In a mere three two-and-a-half words you have given form to the inchoate feelings of the Mets supporters on the board.

There you are, with your upturned Mets cap in your outstretched hand, standing on the corner of Faith Street and Incoherence Avenue, accosting passersby with, "Buddy, can you spare a basehit?"

But it's only a zero-two deficit, and you have your Norse god going for you tomorrow night, right?

In a spirit of friendship, I offer this tender but inspiring anthem. I invite you to sing along as you girdle your lions in preparation for Game 3.

Liberté, fraternité, toga-toga-toga!

As for me, when I ponder how Mets fans are thirsting for a victory, my first thought is, "Let them drink Ripple."

If Perez can apply that stuff to the ball and get it to his pitcher obviously that's illegal, it doesn't matter that after 200IP Jake deGrom was finally some what hittable.

So this is to protect the integrity of the game.  The rules apply to everyone.  Must protect the power of the commissioner.  Etc.

This is sarcasm right?
Alas, no. I am ignorant, so I need educating. The Mets in 1986 carried out mass murders, rapes, puppy kidnappings in the Boston area? They were rude to your momma? Someone tell me, b/c I don't know. Why are the Mets particularly hateable? They tried to win and won, right? And what else? (I always thought the narrative was that the Boston 1)manager, 2)reliever, 3) first-baseman lost the series. Now I find out that the Mets somehow stole it. Or what?)

I'd say he's using it to get a better grip on the ball to make better throws on steal attempts, but the Mets haven't had any baserunners, so.....

GUILTY!
Exactly this. What is the big deal? As already said it's legal for catchers or other position players.

If anyone thinks he is going to transfer any meaningful amount of tar with his throwing fingers as he delivers it to the pitcher they are insane.
