Man, even if I wasn't pulling for the Mets I'd still feel bad for Mets fans after tonight

No one pays Cespedes to think. That much is obvious. Sadly I see the same lack of baseball instincts in Castillo.
Castillo has the excuse of a long time away from baseball. Cespedes is far from a rookie

To be fair, Moose caught that one low. Tough read off the bat for Cespedes, but he's boned at second if it falls, so he should be going back.

He ran like that was a sure hit. That was not a tough read.
He ran like it was going to hit the ground. There's no in-between there, you either run or you don't. That's a tough read.

I see what you're saying, but I disagree.  The play is right in front of  him as is the lead runner. I'll have to watch it again, but it looked basically like Murphy froze.

Murphy is basically out of the play if it hits the ground, though, so he has no downside in waiting. Cespedes can play a role to break up the double play, though it would unlikely have any impact anyway. I think he should have held, but it's a lot to process there.

Can't say I blame you, but I can't even process how I'd react if that same exact play had happened to the Sox.

Lots of them are children. We complain about baseball losing its young fans, but Citi Field was full of them tonight. Anyway those kids don't remember 1986 either.

Kansas City cheated! Lo Cain just said he screamed when he went by Murphy! Scream-gate. Investigation and make them vacate tonight's game and lose draft picks! Series tied 2 - 2!

Perhaps the Citi-children will gain by the experience of witnessing a potentially series altering play that will stay with them for decades that they can tell their kids they saw. A little adversity builds character. Plus they got that damn pitching staff which is going to be a bitch for years..

Yeah after watching it again, I agree with you.  It was the wrong choice but it isn't like it made no sense that a player in his position would be going hard toward the next bag.  Ultimately, its shit luck for the Mets.
