Honestly with how slow Gordon looked the relay could have sailed past the catcher and he still would have been out with Bumgarner covering home. During the play I thought for sure he would have been farther around the bases but it looked like he was carrying Sean Casey on his back.
Ball watching the whole way to first base. In the ninth with two out. He will be wishing he had that time again to bust his ass all the way around for the rest of his life.

He would have been out by 30-40 feet. He's just so slow.
This is right, and so are the people who are saying they should have sent him.

There was no reason to think they would score a runner from 3rd with 2 out some other way.  Their best chance was a bad throw home. I think they had to force SF to make that play.

What a ballgame.

I agree but KC would've been killed for sending him when he was thrown out by 35 feet.

Bumgarner threw 57.2 innings in the post-season.  That's got to be a record, right?
Yes. Looks like the previous high was around 48 innings

Aw come on. Not you too. Offense is down. These kinds of pitching performances are popping up all over the place and the Royals have a shit tastic lineup and approach.

To be fair, I was referring to his entire body of postseason work this year. From the complete game shutout in the Wildcard play-in through his 5 innings in relief tonight, he was simply masterful. Who has been better over the course of an entire postseason?

Congrats to gaelgirl and the other Giants fans on the board... MadBum came through for you guys.

Only 113 days until pitchers and catchers report!

You can't get thrown out at home with the tying run in game 7 with two outs. Yost is lucky he got this far.

Great Series.

You can;t get thrown out.. but they weren't likely to get another hit. I play at the plate would have been exciting and at least have given them a chance. (But as stated, he is slow and he was watching the ball and not running hard out of the box.)

I dunno...I think people could live with being aggressive there considering how little they've been able to get off MadBum.

I can't recall a more dominant postseason pitching performance...anyone?

Beckett carried us in 2007, and he was GREAT, but not quite this good.

He would have been if he got to pitch to these clowns with this umpire.

Or if he just had the chance. The whole team was so much better than Colorado, he simply wasn't needed as much.

Lots of hate in this thread.  At least you guys don't live here where there are lots of diehards but even more bandwagon fans.

That said, congrats to gael, Bonger, Lars and the other Giants fans here at SoSH.   This team deserved it as they had the best players overall and the absolute best pitcher in the playoffs.

What's the old line?  If you spend your time worrying what the guys in the stands are going to say about your decisions, you'll end up sitting in the stands with them.

Orel Hershiser in 1988 was pretty awesome.

Hershiser was great, no doubt. He came to mind as I was posting that and he certainly belongs in the conversation. To his credit, the Dodgers beat a superior team in 5 games in the series that year.

I would put up Josh Beckett's 03' and 07' as truly dominate postseason performances.

Absolutely. Job well done. The best team won this series. KC should also be proud of what they accomplished this year too

Honestly, I just hate that the Royals looked so godawful from the 2nd inning on. I like the Giants, I'm happy for them and the SoSH fans but the Royals didn't even make it interesting and that is just so incredibly frustrating after everything else they've done this postseason.
