This could be quite an epic game. Hope it lives up to the billing it will get!

Hendriks vs Kluber to begin

I've been rooting for Cleveland all series, but now I especially want them to both win and deliver the ultimate nut blow to maddon and cubs fans. A comeback against a gassed chapman would be fantastic.

It looks like rain in coming into Cleveland later this evening. C'mon clouds, hurry up and get over the Great Lakes earlier, rain hard in Cleveland early this afternoon, cause a rain out and give Kluber an extra days rest. Make Maddon sad.

These fan bases are going to be gripping hard. Makes me very happy that we didn't have a World Series game 7 in 2004.

Lester will get in tonight. Just a question of what inning. I think Cleveland ends up pulling it out. Interesting to see Tito on the other end of one of these comebacks though.

Not-that-Fun fact: the Boston Red Sox have never won a World Series Game 7. They are 0-5, in 1912 (won game 8!), 1946, 1967, 1975 and of course 1986. The Boston Americans won game 7 (and 8) in 1903. 1915, 16 and 18 were won in 5, 5, and 6.

We are 3-2 in ALCS game 7s, however.

Obviously, Lester has been great this series, and his postseason history speaks for itself, but I wonder if his issues with holding guys on will come into play? As great as he is, there is certainly some risk to bringing him in late.

Either way, it will be great theater. The 2004 WS was over so fast and there was never a feeling of dread (maybe game 1 for a little bit). If I were a Cubs fan I would be a mess today. Cleveland fans too, for that matter.

If Lester comes in to the game it has to be with no one on base so that already limits where he can get in so maybe Lackey will be the first guy out with Lester getting the next clean inning.

I'm rooting for the Cubs because one of my closest friends is a die hard fan (flew in from Israel for the games in Chicago) and I still want them to win. But as a confirmed Maddon Hater and huge Mike Napoli fan, I would enjoy immensely the suggestion made above about Nap taking Chapman deep to win it.

What a panic job last night by Mr. Merlot.

I assume you've got your 7th or 8th inning guy (don't recall who those are for the Cubs) mentally prepared to enter the game at the first sign of trouble, with Lester entering the game the following inning (or maybe the inning after that).

After the Indians went up 2-1 I thought their best path to victory was to win the two remaining Kluber games, with the Cubs having the clear pitching edge in Games 5 and 6 against inferior starters on short rest. The first 3/4 of that prediction worked out for me, so I'll stick with it and take the Indians with Kluber outpitching Hendricks and Miller-Shaw-Allen doing the rest.

Good pitchers for the Cubs are Chapman, Strop, Monty, and Rondon, no?

What are the rules for postponements, games getting called mid-action and so on?

I mean it´s obvious they want to finish a game that has started or not start it at all. But what happens if the heavy raining starts and the game is tied or a team leads? Will it be resumed at that point or start at 0-0 (if it´s tied, or just early/before the 5th inning)?

I believe in the playoffs , every game must go 9 innings. They can suspend play after however innings, but the next day, they will play until they get to 9.

I'm really excited for this game, and I hope it delivers. I'm kind of jealous of the fans of both teams, as I remember the days before Boston started winning everything an how important a game like this would have felt back then. I still get the pre-game jitters, and still get excited for big games...and I wouldn't trade the last 16 years of my sports fandom for almost anything else, it has been amazing...but you can only have a first time once, and one of these fan bases is going to have a feeling very similar to 2004 tonight.

That said, I have to pull for the Indians. I have really enjoyed watching them this post season, I love Francona and Napoli, and Crisp, too. Their bullpen is a ton of fun to watch, Kluber may be the most underrated Cy Young winner of this century, their young players don't seem as cocky as some of the Cubs young guys, etc.

Also, Chapman doesn't play for them. An Indians walkoff, in Game 7 of the World Series, off of Chapman would definitely vault very high in my list of "favorite non-Boston sports moments". I won't necessarily be sad if the Cubs win, but watching that POS close the series out would certainly temper my enthusiasm.

And Lester. Maddon will use a reliever to finish a jam, and use Lester at the start of an inning, or two, mid-game. And if Cleveland gets someone on against him, they'd better damn well run
Is Ross also going in?

The cradle of the game.
I'm going with a full-on nutpunch:
Indians batting B9, down 3 runs. First 2 go quietly, then bases are loaded on dropped strike 3, error and HBP. Then Brandon Guyer's deep fly Cansecos off Heyward's head for the walk off granny.

There can be no other outcome.

It's going to be a huge nutpunch for a lot of people either way.

I haven't really followed the series very closely since I was out of the country without regular access to Fox or the internet. Can I assume that Maddon's usage of Chapman has been questioned here and elsewhere?

Charlie Sheen will be in Cleveland for Game 7. He is being flown in by Cleveland entrepreneurs Bobby George of Corporate Management Group & Tony Madalone, owner of apparel company fresh Brewed Tees partnered to bring sheen to cleveland for game 7. Said Madalone: "We're die hard Clevelanders and wanted to do this for the fans."

I don't get it, as die hard Clevelanders, wouldn't they like the fans?

It was questioned in North Korea

I think Arrieta will volunteer for a batter or two as well. He can hump it up there for one or two key guys and throw it as hard as he can. Listen, they can make this work. I'm not worried about the Cubs pitching in a "sky is falling" scenario at all. But they could pitch a 3-hit, 1-run game and still lose because the offense has to find a way to scratch some runs out against a 3 headed monster that has be UNREAL this post season. Kluber seems to lose nada on short rest. He really is a robot. Miller is rested and can go 3 if need be. Allen is rested and can go 2 if need be. Shaw has been good, though more hittable than the other guys. I mean, you really could see just Kluber, Miller and Allen and it could be a shutout with them. But I think the Cubs can match that if Hendricks steps up and pitches as he has all year in a very big moment. You could just as conceivably see Hendricks, Lester and Chapman shutout the Indians.

Offensively, it sure looks to me that the Cubs' best bats are heating up at the exact right moment. Bryant, Schwarber, Rizzo and Zobrist is a tough stretch for any pitcher to get through when they are feeling it, and they are feeling it right now. This SHOULD be an epic night of baseball. I am as excited as I can be for any game that doesn't involve the Red Sox.

If its Guyer, it has to involve a HBP.
