Tomorrow.Meh. Dodgers better win one of these and get the series back to LA.
astros’ has no imagination though. Weak. When did Astros OF start copying Sox OF game win happy dance?
Don't be jealous. There's always next year.I don’t know
astro’s has no imagination though. Weak.
Not saying they should panic, only that they make preparations to panic.I'm eagerly waiting for the first article that says the Dodgers should throw Kershaw on 3 days rest.
How about bitter? I'm bitter.Don't be jealous. There's always next year.
I’ll take Wood over Morton though.Well, tomorrow the Dodgers will have a weaker bullpen, while the Astros will have their full complement, such as it is.
He's correctWTF is Buck talking about saves not being recognized before (I think he said) 1969?
I remember (and watched) and just checked Larry Sherry won an MVP in the 1959 WS by recording 2 wins and 2 saves for the LADs in the 1959 World Series. He's correct

Pedro and Madbum pitched series closing games, and more innings than Peacock (thus far)Pedro
Madbum
Peacock
You've got to be kidding
Baseball reference retroactively awards save statistics for pre-1969 games. But the save was only an official statistic from the 1969 season onwards.I remember (and watched) and just checked Larry Sherry won an MVP in the 1959 WS by recording 2 wins and 2 saves for the LADs in the 1959 World Series.

Yeah, this is huge, the Dodgers need one of these two games the next two nights in HOU and Maeda is maybe out for both, HOU somehow got through that game with just McCullers and Peacock.Well, tomorrow the Dodgers will have a weaker bullpen, while the Astros will have their full complement, such as it is.
Didn't know or remember that I just remembered Sherry's astounding relief pitching that dominated that WS.Retroactively awarded

EDIT: MLB cannot become Euro soccer. Put an end to this now.
I have news for you: There likely are racists on every team in every professional sport.Hard to root for the Astros going forward given one their star player's overt racism. Shame.
Yu Darvish is a bigger person than you areWas rooting for the Astros, but no longer if Gurriel plays another game.
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/21189685/houston-astros-yuli-gurriel-apparently-mocks-los-angeles-dodgers-yu-darvishDarvish also later tweeted a statement, saying people should put effort into "learning rather than to accuse [Gurriel]."
"If we can take something from this, that is a giant step for mankind. Since we are living in such a wonderful world, let's stay positive and move forward instead of focusing on anger. I'm counting on everyone's big love," Darvish wrote.
Cools. We get where E5 stands and that's with the racists. Awesome take, man!I have news for you: There likely are racists on every team in every professional sport.
I said nothing of the sort. I'm merely stating that Gurriel got caught using an offensive gesture and language. It doesn't mean that there aren't people with similar views on every other team.Cools. We get where E5 stands and that's with the racists. Awesome take, man!
I hope Gurriel isn't suspended, but I am rooting for Darvish to throw an 80 pitch perfect game in game seven.
Because offending Asians is a small price to pay for a good baseball game. Why?
So we should do nothing?I have news for you: There likely are racists on every team in every professional sport.
Because I dislike when championships are affected by suspensions if they're not absolutely necessary. I disliked it when it was Amare Stoudemire getting off the bench against the Spurs, I disliked it when it was Draymond Green against the Cavs and I would dislike this. Suspend Gurriel for all of April if that needs to be done, but not now. FWIW, my wife is Japanese, from Tokyo, not that that really matters. Why?
It’s shocking this is the kind of response you have on SOSH. And having a Japanese wife doesn’t magically skew the weight of your opinion. In my opinion, you should be even more ashame.Because I dislike when championships are affected by suspensions if they're not absolutely necessary. I disliked it when it was Amare Stoudemire getting off the bench against the Spurs, I disliked it when it was Draymond Green against the Cavs and I would dislike this. Also putting on my Dope hat for a second, you guys need to stop being dicks ASAP or Gurriel isn't going to be the only one suspended. The comment to E5 above by riboflav was completely over the line.
Yeah, it was bad and racist and should be punished, I'd just personally prefer the suspension happen at the start of next season. But my opinion on this doesn't actually matter, only Rob Manfred's does.Forgetting the previous poster. Why do you put the player over the game? I won’t pretend to have some faux outrage that I think Gurriel is the scum of the earth but this was pretty bad and pretty disgusting. It’s pretty simple, the MLB (and all leagues) can’t let the behavior go unchecked and fines are bullshit. Even a 1 game suspension would be fine.
Jon, I get what you're saying and I also prefer to see games of this magnitude played with a full compliment of players. The scenario that you present about suspending Gurriel for all of April vs missing a game(s) during this World Series makes no sense to me. I'm guessing that given the option Gurriel might pick that as well and IMO that's the sort of thing that sends a bad message, sets a dangerous precedent and becomes a slippery slope when disciplining players in the future. From where I sit, whatever discipline that MLB and/or the Astros decide on needs to be swift.Because I dislike when championships are affected by suspensions if they're not absolutely necessary. I disliked it when it was Amare Stoudemire getting off the bench against the Spurs, I disliked it when it was Draymond Green against the Cavs and I would dislike this. If he really wants to man up and take responsibility, he'd take a one gamey, WS suspension. The thing is, he'd appeal any suspension, and the appeal hearing would never be held until after the World Series is over.
