Dave Flemming is also on the KNBR team. He and Miller basically split duties 50/50, where one does play-by-play and the other is there for color. The switch innings. Flemming goes off for college football and the Little League World Series, though. He may be the next national broadcaster, but I don't want to lose him from the Giants. The other three clearly adore him and no matter who you have in what booth, it's a great call. Kruk & Kuip are better as a team and Miller and Flemming are better as a team, but it's still good no matter what.

In a decade, I fully expect Flemming to be the Joe Buck. It took a few years for people, including me, to get used to Flemming, though that may have been because he was basically hired out of college. Hopefully people will feel it's an improvement. His initial issues, where he was a little bit too even-keeled, seem to have been worked out.

But every once in a while, his voice cracks: There's a hilarious call of Edgar Renteria's homerun in the 2010 World Series where his voice cracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QslvOKq3SXM

To me, Flemming is getting better but he's nowhere near Kuiper, Krukow or Miller. I think he's learning well working with the experienced guys but he'll never be their equal. More about Krukow, I think he does more homework than anyone in any sport. He has a summary of every pitcher that comes into a game, Giants or opposition. He even has a profile on every home plate umpire, whether he calls the high strikes or the low, wide or narrow plate, stays constant or might change late in the game. Sometimes I wonder if he's making stuff up. He uses a stopwatch to time pitchers getting the ball to the plate. Kuiper sees and reports more subtle stuff than anyone I've ever heard. He also has a great dry wit. As a team, to me, they approach Maddon and Summerall in their prime in football.
