I said earlier that we were going to find out what the Red Sox were made of starting tonight.

Well, statement delivered. It took a while for the bats to show up tonight, but just so amazed by this team. One more win, boys.

It takes a lot of fucking heart to fall behind 4-zip in bot 6, then respond with 9 — esp after last night.

In my lifetime, in Red Sox WS experience, it is fucking unprecedented. All the WS damage they have done this century — and there is plenty — they have done as front runners.

A lot of lazy ass shit posted here early this morning. Understandable, but lazy ass nonetheless.

Glad to see Dave Roberts is still on the payroll as well. Just an awful night of decision making.
Cora left ERod in way too long as well. Both are making some head-scratchers.

As I said in the gamethread, this team has way more brass balls than I ever will. the most complete team grinded it out in Houston and managed that comeback tonight, plain & simple.

He just owned it in the presser. He pushed Eddy too hard. I was kicking myself after the homer.

Very honest and refreshing.

Well whether it's arm fatigue or soreness or whatever, there's something physical going on with Sale that nobody's being forthcoming about

I'm guessing Sale's been sore this whole post-season and he's just been toughing it out from start to start.

And, honestly, probably have not been forthcoming about for 2 months. And I don’t blame them.

We’ll find out soon enough.

The wrong side of the bridge....
Whole bunch of folks here quit on this team when it was 4 to 0. Game thread was ridiculous.
I had to take a break after the Puig HR because it put my head in a bad place. Went and did some chores. Came back a little while later, and boom, we had tied it. This team has a maddening-but-lovable way of coming through as soon as I turn the TV off.

This bullpen deserves to have their own parade no matter what happens. Un-fuckin-believable.
Is it possible for a whole bullpen to be named World Series MVP? Because really that is what should happen, assuming we finish this off.

The last 2 days reminds me of what games 4 and 5 of the '04 ALCS felt like. It seems like they just played for 48 straight hours without stopping. I feel as though I've trimmed my life-expectancy by several months.

That was a devestating loss. The comparisons to Game 6 in ‘86 are appropriate. It reminded me more of Game 6 of the WCF with Sacramento and LA in ‘02. Bad officiating on top of a brutal loss. I don’t see how they overcome this. It’s not just the loss but the effect it had on the pitching staff that puts them at a disadvantage going forward.

At this point, best case scenario is they go back to Fenway down 3-2, and regroup.
You're really, really shitty at providing insightful baseball discussion. You should probably stop trying. Go mope yourself to sleep tonight.

What I love most about a postseason run like this is the development of role players turning into Red Sox legends. When you have a team this good, it isn't just the stars who carry the team, it's the bench guys and the bullpen pitchers who have delivered on the big stage. Yeah, Mookie and JD and Sale and Price are all good (some would say they may have underachieved but whatever) but I love guys like Eovaldi, Pearce, Holt, Nunez, Kelly, Eduardo and Moreland stepping up and cementing themselves in the annals of franchise legend. It's just fun to see average players become icons for a brief stretch of their careers.

That's how I feel. I am surprised how emotional I am about this series.

I guess thus has been such a fantastic team, so likable it is unimaginable for them to not win.

I wonder if Sale can pitch again this year, at least in a starting capacity. It seems really weird that he's not going on normal rest

Is MLB going to do anything about Machado’s bullshit? 2nd 1B he’s spiked.

Price will kill it tomorrow. This is his moment

One of my favorite images of the game is the Dodger Fan who makes a great snag of Pearce's game-tying home-run and reacts - not with excitement of catching a World Series home-run ball - but with resignation that his team has just blown the lead.

The game threads have been pretty much unreadable the last couple years. What used to be one of my favorite things about SOSH is not easily the thing I avoid the most.
Honestly, between the JD Sux, Fire Cora, MLB wants the Dodgers... The game threads are a joke.

Enjoy this, people. It's been an awesome ride

Remember when the prevailing wisdom pre-playoffs was that the bullpen was going to murder us?

That was fun.

I thought Roberts made the right call on Hill but I dont get his BP management . Why no Jansen for the 9th? . I couldnt watch the end. Those bums he ran out there in the 9th let the game get beyond reach for them. They had no business being out there in the 9th

Cora is lucky the team bailed him out . Nobody will remember Erod staying in too long.

This loss must knock the stuffing out of the Dodgers. They must feel their manager is killing them this series and IMO they would be right

Game 5 should be a joy to watch. Price over Sale is interesting but I agree. Not sure how many bullets Sale has in him

Baez was apparently unavailable, so Roberts tried to use Jansen against our supposed best hitters.

problem is we got our complete lineup rolling again.

ESPN:
"Chris Sale stood in the back of the dugout as the World Series was slipping away and started screaming. ... 'It scared me a little bit,' Rafael Devers said, 'because I had never seen him yell like that ...'"
Chris Sale stood in the back of the dugout as the World Series was slipping away and started screaming.

"He's got two pitches!" the Boston Red Sox ace hollered to his left among a stream of profanities, referring to Los Angeles Dodgers starter Rich Hill.

Then he shouted to his right.

And then straight ahead, pointing with his pitching hand and extending his ring and middle fingers for emphasis.

Sale stepped down, kept on shrieking and raised his right hand, his head bobbing up and down and a fire in his eyes like a Shakespearean king exhorting troops into battle.

"It scared me a little bit," Rafael Devers said, "because I had never seen him yell like that, and the words that he was saying, I had never heard that come from him before. But, you know, we came out sluggish and that moment helped us get motivated for the rest of the game."

Boston had just fallen behind by four runs in the sixth inning Saturday night, nine outs from finding itself tied 2-2 in a World Series that seemed to be a runaway just 27 hours earlier. The Red Sox had managed only one hit in six innings.

"We felt that we had no energy, actually none whatsoever," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. "It had to do with Rich Hill, the way he was throwing the ball." ...

"I was down the tunnel and I heard someone yelling," Holt later recalled.

Holt turned to Mookie Betts and asked: "Who's yelling up there?"

"He said, 'Sale.' Oh, my God. He was mad at us," Holt said. "I think that kind of lit a fire under everybody. We didn't want to see him mad anymore. So we decided to start swinging the bats a little bit." ...

Lol, that last part of the quote from Holt cracked me up:

"We didn't want to see him mad anymore. So we decided to start swinging the bats a little bit." ...
