I did a World Cup tipping thread last world cup. It was fun. There were some hiccups but it was a good time.
I can't do it this time, I'll blame the baby, but I was hoping someone would. There are definitely ways to do these things off-site, but I thought the doing of it here, in the threads, on-site, were why it was fun. Zomp was really bad at it, for example, and everyone really got to see exactly how much (not) he knew about football.
So what I'm saying is, it woul dbe pretty rad if someone stepped up and decided to try to do something. Anyone keen?
*note - not for money.

If there are 32 people here we could do a WC-style competition picking games.

I was asked to manage the Irish National Team three years ago after taking Chelsea to the FA Cup final three years ago in FIFA. So I'm qualified.

Enjoy playing for 1-19th or 21-31st place, bitches.

General Game Play
The objective of the pick'em game is to accumulate the most points by correctly selecting the "winning pick" for each of the matchups in the Tournament. The points earned for a correct pick will be as follows:
Total Matchups Played = 64
Total Maximum Possible Points = 120
  • Group Stage: 1 point per correct pick (48 matches = 48 points max)
  • Round of 16: 2 points per correct pick (8 matches = 16 points max)
  • Quarterfinals: 4 points per correct pick (4 matches = 16 points max)
  • Semifinals: 8 points per correct pick (2 matches = 16 points max)
  • Third-Place Match: 8 points for correct pick (1 match = 8 points max)
  • Final: 16 points for correct pick (1 match = 16 points max)
All picks will lock at the scheduled start time of each match. Selections submitted after the deadline are considered invalid. In the event a match does not occur as scheduled (e.g., due to cancellation, postponement, etc.) no points will be awarded.

Entrants are allowed (but not required) to submit a predicted score for the tiebreaker game as indicated as such in the selection area. Ties will be broken in accordance with the tie-breaker procedure contained in the Official Rules.

Are we having just a pick 'em group on ESPN or a bracket as well?
Pick em is fun for match-to-match betting, but a bracket group would be a better indicator of overall tournament predictions.

In as "Money on TtP's Bickens." Because Zomp performs oral sex on him. Not that there's anything wrong with that. More people should perform oral sex because oral sex is the tits. Which is kind of ironic since mouth-on-nipple isn't usually considered oral sex.

In the Pick 'Em it appears our group is 60th overall. Not bad.

That's true. I thought mine was terrible looking at our standings, but it's 48th percentile overall.

You can still make them. You'll just not be able to pick the games already finished.
yeah I did, but I was 2 points from the lead already,
Edit- checking it now, If I'd been able to pick I would be in first. UGH
