Portugal starting Felix and Ronaldo …. I can’t wait to see how Santos manages to make this defend as a 9 man unit
This is Ronaldo’s chance to audition for another top side like City Juve Lyon Everton Villa Porto Miami Olympiacos Betsikas

“And then he kissed me” has been stuck in my head all week since the little intro motif is the same the song’s intro. And now that I’ve been parsing every beat & syllable…that song is about cunnilingus.

I’m obviously very happy to have Haaland but man do I wish I could see a world where Felix joined City and played for Pep. That guy has it just a terrible career choice

Kind of funny how the Portugal uni resembles the Ghanaian flag much more than the Ghanaian uni.

This looks like another boring one nowhere near enough pace in Portugals passing and movement to shift this Ghana setup around enough to create open play chances

So soft a call for the defender. Frustrating. Portugal more attacking than usual but 2 v 4 in midfield because Bruno is playing as a stay high right winger for some reason

They just showed a composed shot behind CR lining up for a free kick where you’d never know the red-green-gold frenzy in the stands was not aligned with the kicker.

Ghana will be satisfied, hopefully a little encouraged to get out more. Inaki Williams can smash & grab this if given a few chances, but Ghana has to keep at least a couple guys in mode field positions to outlet to.

Can’t tell if teams are just playing super conservatively to try and get a point in their opener or if we’re just starting to see more parity in the world of soccer with more players playing at high level leagues? Been some really uninspired attacking or non attacking setups so far for a lot of teams.

The only person watching Ghanas setup and enjoying this is Tuchel who might be advising Ghana on how to make a match unwatchable.

international football has always been especially vulnerable to bus parking tactics. It takes a lot of time and drilling to create attacking patterns which attack these setups and they just don’t have the time

So far it doesn’t seem like that conservative play, the 0-0 draws often had teams trying to attack. Just not very good with creativity and finishing

Great turn by Kudus, but not sure that was ever gonna beat the keeper.

Watching this game makes me remember why I don't often watch professional soccer. All the flopping and faking and raising of hands at every event and players complaining, complaining, complaining. Feh.

Here
That's still soft, but you can't overturn it on review. That last angle clearly showed Ronaldo first and contact with his foot. Then he went down easily, but it's justifiable.
