Not into the political/military stuff at all - IMO the Hulkster is the perfect expression of patriotism for a day like today.

Yeah if it's Colbert-style it's great, but that's a fine line to walk. Heading to the game today and wishing I had the forethought to dress as Liberty with a Lightsaber. Or Apollo Creed with talons.

Also--good God people, this shit is tongue in cheek.

In yesterday's thread I really didn't think Messi was like a Mossad agent.

Do you furriners really not understand why Americans love America so much?

I suggest you give this a listen, son.

Nothing shows the sheer power of will and American strength like bodyslamming singlet wearing Frenchmen.

How much bullshit is it that ABC isn't showing this game?  I know its on ESPN, but still.  This ain't worthy of a network audience?  Its not like this is a round of 16 game where they couldn't have been sure when it was going to happen.

I can't believe we're explaining to the German guy about the issues involved in rooting for a country you love that has nevertheless engaged in some geopolitical shenanigans down the years. If it helps, think of it this way: where Germany has chosen to process its feelings through ahistorical technocratic capitalism, we use gifs.

Apologies to Vinho and Teddy but....

Cacoila sucks.  Linguica is AWFUL.  The language sounds like someone is talking while simultaneously sucking in spit, and 90% of the women are too hairy and grow up to be hideous.

The best scenario going forward is USMNT winning today and winning the group, KOR winning today and winning the second spot, and then we clash in the Round of 16.

I'm sitting at a Firestone in between Princeton and Trenton, NJ, hoping to make it to D.C. for the KOR/ALG match viewing luncheon with my favourite dawg PSK.

Now, KOR are expected to play even better than they did against RUS. They exceeded our expectations for this year's WC already, and I'm feeling that Sonsational can finally start scoring some goals and lead this squad to the Round of 16. Both Koopard and Kirrard are ready to take some ambitious shots from outside the box. Blue Dragon's dribbling skills will get the ball to Sonsational for scoring. We are ready. I still hate Arsenal FC though. Why is he still expected to start?

Expected starting XI for KOR (4-2-3-1):

Arsenal FC
Sonsational--Koopard--Blue Dragon
Korea Young--Kirrard
QPR--Kim--Augsburg--K League Classic
Jung

No other words left. BEAT ALGERIA.

Also, I fully expect Belgium to win 10-0 because the three changes Wilmots made was benching Vertonghen, Chadli, and Dembele.

How the fuck can Vermaelen look uncomforable at right back already? The game is literally 3 minutes old, and mostly stopped.

So, I just spent five minutes screwing around with the settings on my TV picture because I have no score/time in the upper left and a cut off ABC logo in the bottom right.

Anyone else having trouble or is this me?

Mertens might end up making the most money of anyone out of this tournament. Dude is electrifying.

Sounds like you're zoomed in for some reason. No problems here.

By the way, the ABC logo is pretty obnoxiously large and really doesn't need to have any color. Fuck them.

He's kinda old, and already playing in Italy though.  I doubt this World Cup is doing much to show things that teams already didn't know.
