Yeah I think that call was correct... it's a foul in the box and the ball is in play. I think the only reason people are arguing otherwise is more about it being a penalty than whether that's a foul. Ref isn't supposed to change how they call something based on it being in or out of the box.

Technically yea, but it is 10 feet in the air and a yard from the endline, so in reality the play is over. Even wo messi getting hit the ball is gone

Doesn’t matter, a foul is a foul, there’s no requirement it stop a clear or even possible goal scoring opportunity.
I think what happened ended up being right - a close call but not egregiously awful, and a penalty being saved. I want Argentina to score, but from open play
Doesn't matter if the play is over, if the ball is in play you can't whack the opponent.
Ball was still in play, so that’s all that matters. You tackle the leg of someone in the box who’s not facing the goal and passing it backwards, it’s still a penalty.
The ball wasn't out of play yet. If it had crossed the boundary, it wouldn't have being a foul. The referee could still card the keeper if he so wished.
This is right. Probably a penalty but incidental and wasn't leading to anything. He didn’t score on it and we’re back where we started
Dude’s a decent story. Szczęsny started his professional career with Arsenal, got pretty seriously jerked around there IIRC, then went to Roma on loan for a couple years before a permanent to Juventus. He has one year under Buffon before taking the reins and doing well for himself. He was even nominated for a Lev Yashin in 2019.
Like sm says, his first half is approaching GOAT single-game performance territory.
