Yeah, they'll still be checking everything with VAR, but no yellows for the keeper if they come off the line.Did they change the rule ? The Canadian commentators mentioned something about it?
They should rub some dirt on it!Edit 2- allright, the Cameroon offside was actually close, but anyone with a view of it can see it was called correctly, shitty luck,
Meh, I don't get the argument that it is better to have bad calls stand than make the correct call. Listen is sucks when you think you scored and didn't, but it's far better than actually having a goal allowed against you or disallowed by you when it's an incorrect call. And the idea that you would pout and refuse to play because a correct call was made is insane. They should rub some dirt on it!
Sure....Maybe their coach will take to a pizzeria and let them vent some steam off over some slices and pop. I mean, it’s just the most important match they’ll ever play in their lives. Clearly they should have the same clarity of some internet rando.
It’s been a hard year for the Cameroon federation. In November they lost the right to host this current Cup of Nations tournament because they weren’t going to be ready to host & an armed rebel group was plaguing a section of the country not far from some tournament sites. Then this week the men’s team staged a sit in over unpaid bonuses for playing in the Cup of Nations. And now an embarrassing performance from the women. It appears Cameroon felt aggrieved that the VAR offside calls that went against them were not reviewed by the on field ref .. not that they had to be .. but it certainly would have looked better .. the old “it’s not enough to be fair .. it has to appear to be fair” thing. Not that that excuses their behaviour which was pretty bad.. wouldn’t be surprised if there are repercussions for the Cameroonian federation.
Fox's rules analyst has been terrible all world cup.Well damn, waved off. No goal.
I guess it may have deflected off the arm. But I didn’t see it.
EDIT: Rules analyst keeps talking about keeper possession and not potentially going off arm.
This can’t be repeated enough. One match early on, she literally said “I’m not sure of the rule, but for me...” She is embarrassing.Fox's rules analyst has been terrible all world cup.
Assuming the US get by Spain (despite Spain having 3 extra days of rest), the #1 ranked Americans will likely have to beat #4 France, #3 England, and #2 Germany in consecutive games to win the title. It's a brutal run unless there are some big upsets.I hate that the QFs for the US will be like the Finals. Not sure who to root for today.
Oh yeah, forgot how bulls**t that is. Especially since they have the geographical home field, although it's almost as far away from Spain as a match in France can be.Assuming the US get by Spain (despite Spain having 3 extra days of rest), the #1 ranked Americans will likely have to beat #4 France, #3 England, and #2 Germany in consecutive games to win the title. A triumph for VAR.That's going to count. She was not offside.
All "Western" Europe too.Just like the men’s tournament, the later parts of the women’s World Cup is going to look an awful lot like a copy of the Euros this cycle. The women’s bracket has a good chance to be 7 European sides plus the U.S. or even 8 if the U.S. are upset.
Probably 6 at least I think.
I would think they would still go with their initial reaction, as it will get reviewed anyways. It's no different if she didn't flag it and it turned out she was off, they'd still have the chance to review it.The thing is .. would the linesperson have flagged for offside in the absence of VAR ? They can be much more aggressive with offside calls knowing they have backup?
