They aren’t really called the tea baggers are they? Or is this just a colloquialism play on the tea party?
Just seems a bit 1990’s to be making a teabagging joke about a women’s sports team. Or, wildly short sighted on ownerships part…
No that was a WoSo Twitter bit from a few months ago, after a joking suggestion at a team event signup wasn't filtered out.

When they've got a name, I'll use it.

UNC coach/living legend/institution/architect of American women’s soccer dominance Anson Dorrance retires. He walks away during the preseason saying that he realized he didn’t have the energy the program required for another season. He leaves with 22 championships, a 934-88-53 record, and 59 alums capped by the USWNT. Oh, and he also coached the US to victory in the very first women’s World Cup (China 1991).

This is big news for US sports in my opinion. The reasons for making this shift and the quotes in the article about the dehumanizing nature of a draft are sure to resonate across certain leagues. WNBA? NBA? I could see shifts in other player-driven leagues. Not to mention if Red were still around I’m sure he’d be pushing this hard, using it to his advantage to build yet another Celtics dynasty in a draftless NBA.

Alex Morgan is retiring. A very personal & emotional video announcement.

Damn
Thanks for posting

Bittersweet

Bitter that there’s just one more game and that she couldn’t have the Lynn Williams role in Paris.

Sweet that there won’t be a Willie on the Mets situation and that Charli will have a sibling and that she’ll be able to accomplish more off the field perhaps.

Curious on the timing of the conception and whether Paris would have changed that and therefore possibly this decision.

Thank you Alex for all that you did on and off the field.

I took my 12 year old down to San Diego for the match — super cool experience and amazing environment (although, as Angel City FC season ticket holders, it felt like cheating).

The incredible icing on the cake was my 12 year old getting her autograph and a HUG at the end as she made her way around the stadium. It was shown on ESPN — here at the 7-second clip is my daughter in the white “3” shirt.

Her expression to her friend after the hug is priceless.

This is really, really cool. Not cheating if you’re going to see a legend off the pitch for the last time.

Alex Morgan has done an awful lot for the women’s game, and these youngsters who are kicking ass on their club teams and on the USWNT, and all the kids in the pipeline, owe her a ton. As do those of us who have watched this sport since before the 99ers. It’s tough for me to see baby horse retire - I’m feeling my age!

Yeah that's part of the "high school graduation party montage designed to embarrass her while bringing her to tears" level memory right there.

And it ain't cheating if you weren't rooting for her team.

Yeah, there were so many middle-aged men and women crying in the stands, it was pretty cool. People certainly appreciated who she is and what she has done, and as she stated multiple times, she is just getting started.

Of course, the odds of seeing her miss a penalty kick in her sendoff in what would have been her last goal ever scored has me a touch bitter . . . . . .

There was no way she was making that pk. The last part of her career has just not had all the sweet and perfect moments. I knew she was not gonna bury it. Don’t be bitter. It just wasn’t meant to be.

California. Duh.
Liverpool's women scored 5 goals against Spurs, with them scoring none. But since 2 of Liverpool's went into their own goal, it ended up being a pretty crazy 3-2 win.

Is there a reference here I’m missing? What the he’ll is Bos? Do people now call Boston “Bos” like folks sometimes call Chicago “Chi”?

Maybe we're sponsored by Boston Logan Airport's FAA short code.

They spend 53 million dollars on an expansion fee, and then turn around and pay like $3000 and a case of Sam Adams to somebody's cousin's "marketing agency" to establish their brand identity for the next few decades, it's totally insane.

It looks like it should be pronounced “box” but should it be “boss” like the first syllable in Boston? I can see some possibilities in the latter - Who’s the Bos? Welcome to Bos Town!

I’ll take that case of Sam now.

Just as long as the halftime entertainment is the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
