Is it worth taking on Noah to give up less? (So we dont have to give up #3, Jaylen and the BK pick)

I'm sure one of the mathletes here has it worked out.

Now we know...

http://www.nydailynews.com/amp/sports/basketball/knicks/knicks-price-porzingis-high-celtics-article-1.3269298
"According to a Knicks source, Jackson is asking for the third overall pick in Thursday's draft as well as next year's Brooklyn pick along with Jaylen Brown and Jae Crowder. This version of the deal would not include Boston taking on Joakim Noah's contract."

No fucking way.

Edit: beaten
Just for giggles.... if the C's do this deal and then manage to sign Hayward, their roster basically looks like.....

Starters
Thomas
Bradley
Hayward
Horford
Porzingis

Rozier
Smart
Jackson
Yabu
Zizic
Zeller
Mickey

And they'd still have the 2018 LAL pick (hopefully), which could yield them a stud, plus the Celtics' picks etc.

I don't think I'd do that deal, but that starting lineup could be pretty freaking awesome. Replacing Crowder and Amir with Hayward and Porzingis is about as massive an upgrade as you could imagine. The price for that upgrade, however, would be really steep (Brown, #3, Brooklyn 2018 pick). Yikes.

Yeah I think a lot of people are underestimating Porzingis relative to the value of Jaylen and the lotto picks. Jaylen and the lotto picks are exciting, but they are nowhere near as good as Porzingis. That said, you don't want to give up too much volume of your lotto picks/Jaylen if you are the C's either. 2 out of 3 (#3, Jaylen, next year's BKN) with a player like Crowder and maybe another non-lotto first seems like a pretty fair deal. Don't think Phil does that though.
It stems from the wildly divergent opinions on both what Jaylen Brown is and what he is likely to become. Holding down a rotation spot on a contender at 20 is impressive, but by the advanced metrics he was still one of the worst players on the team. He's still all projection and that's going to impact what people see as fair value.

I was listening to some podcast the other day and one host asked if Jaylen would be a top 10 pick this year and the other host started laughing uncontrollably. That's unfair, but I think it's important to know how he might be viewed outside of a Celtic bubble.

From Ian Begley a Knicks reporter for ESPN -

Sources: BOS offered NYK its No. 3 pick, a player & an additional lottery pick that they think they can acquire tonight in a trade for KP.

And keeps the Nets pick? So, something like #3, Brown, and Bradley for KP? Hmmmm.

The most interesting thing to me is the pending lottery pick deal. I wonder what Danny has lined up there.

Well, I guess the Knicks reply to that is what's important, but the "pick they think they can acquire" means they'd need an answer from Knicks in time to get other deal done.

But wait, there's more:

Quote
Boston Celtics have spoken to the Minnesota Timberwolves about acquiring the 7th pick in the draft, league sources told Basketball Insiders.

Yes, but we'd get that 2nd pick for a player like Bradley--so net loss to Celtics is #3, and 2 players.
C's started with the #1, Bradley, and Brown.

If this trade as you describe above happens, they'll end up dealing those three pieces for Porzingis and the LAL 2018 first rounder.

That seems to me to be potentially a pretty good trade at the end of the day.

I know it's not one trade, but it would be two disconnected trades that produce the result, but that's ultimately what would happen (if the trade goes down).

If we don't trade for Porzingis, and the extra pick was in fact supposed to come from Bradley, do we make that end of it anyway and just replace Bradley w/ Butler or Hayward?

It has to be IT4. Wolves have been rumored to be in on a point guard for awhile and no way AB gets #7.

Reports that Danny is trying to trade for the #7 pick from the TWolves.

Tick tock....?

I can't see the Wolves trading #7 for Bradley. That has to be IT or Horford, right? Unless they are taking a guy like Crowder and a future pick.

or Phil doesn't really want Jaylen Brown and the Wolves do. Nothing really makes sense besides IT4, really. I guess Horford kinda does. Would the Celtics do that?

No, trading Horford - a quality big man who spaces the floor - so that you can acquire a piece in a trade for a quality big man who spaces the floor makes zero sense.
