Wow that's quite a get for BVB.
Been reading around a bit since Haaland to ManU seemed in the bag. Many ManU outlets are suggesting that Raiola tied Haaland’s transfer to Old Trafford to Pogba being allowed to leave. That doesn’t quite sound like Raiola, who is well known for doing whatever it takes to get each client what & where he wants. I think it is more likely that all parties understand that Haaland’s stay in Dortmund could be short, like Dembele short, if the right clubs with the right offers come along.

From a footballing perspective, Haaland gets to slot into a team that is famous for developing young players very well and very quickly. He also gets stay in the Champions League for at least about round.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he spring boards quickly ie 6 to 18 months but it's amazing how often Dortmund makes huge profits on these deals.

An excellent contrast to the previous post. They would have had a ton of suitors for Weigl at double or triple that price when he burst onto the scene. Shows the wisdom of moving them on quickly, I suppose

Sounds like Palace are going to get Cenk Tosun and Kyle Walker-Peters on loan, while Zaha continues to push for a move. FYI, here are Palace’s injuries for this week (going on memory)

Christian Benteke (might come back)
Andros Townsend
Wilf Zaha
Scott Dann
Mamadou Sakho
Patrick van Aanholt
Joel Ward
Jairo Riedewald
Max Meyer
Jeffrey Schlupp
Maybe Gary Cahill
Luka Milivojevic is not injured but suspended

so some help soon would be appreciated.

A few different reports have United in discussions with Bruno Fernandes again. Not sure how he's got on this season, @Vinho Tinto ?

Rio also just tweeted BRUNOOOOOOOOO
I don't think he's worth the hype at all. I believe he is exactly what he is - an elite player for the Portuguese league.

But I've been wrong before, and am biased, but he's stunk every time he's played for Portugal.

Inter are absolutely going nuts under Conte. This feels like the first year Juventus might be knocked off the perch.

West Ham are signing Slavia Prague captain Tomas Soucek. Some confliciting reports on the price/structure, but Moyes said at his press conference that he was having the medical as they spoke.

Actually a shockingly good signing for what West Ham need. 6'4" DM/CM, starter for the Czech National team, playing in a double pivot. Dominant in the air, scores a surprising number of goals both from corners and shots around the edge of the box.

Eager to see how Moyes completely squanders this signing.

After seemingly dragging it out for a month, United look like they've finally agreed for a deal for Bruno Fernandes after Sporting flirted with Barca

The rumor of signing Bruno and/or Rodrigo Moreno made no sense to me for Barcelona.
As a United fan, any shred of optimism I had has left over the past few months so I didn't expect it to go through.

I know you don't think much of Bruno, but hopefully he can add some much needed creativity to our starting 11.

I don't think he stinks, but I'm skeptical that he will make it happen in the EPL. I will give him a lot of credit for performing while total chaos has surrounded him at Sporting the last couple of years. The club has declined sharply, but he did a good job of maintaining himself publicly while banging in goals from the midfield.

Twitter is blocked for me at the office, but Tom Kundert does a nice job of writing about the Portuguese league and had thread yesterday outlining why he thinks this is a great signing for United.

Ziyech to Chelsea for €45m this summer - Tier 1 source for Ajax

No questioning his talent but I don't know how / if his legs will translate to the Premier League, being age 27 at the start of next season and all. Seems like a good time for Ajax to sell him on, and odd that Chelsea would want to block Mount in an attacking midfield role

Questioning whether a 27 year old can handle the fitness of the EPL seems odd to me. Footballing prime years generally seem to be 25-28 IMO, since that's the intersecting point when these guys have been pros long enough to understand the importance of training/fitness, have experience, but still young enough to have elite speed and conditioning. I'm sure some guys are springier at 20-23 or whatever younger age ranges, but they also haven't had as much time to build muscle onto their final body frame or had as many seasons with a first team at that point. Questioning whether any player can make the transition from another league to EPL is also fair (cough*Ndombele*cough*), but age concerns for a 27 year old?!??

In other transfer news, Barca are seeking to use an exemption of sorts from UEFA (maybe RFEF? Both?) for an injury-related transfer outside of the January window. In short, due to the Dembele injury, it seems an enumerated exception exists that would allow Barca to seek a transfer from another Spanish club or a player without a club. Rumored targets include Willian José (Sociedad), Ángel Rodríguez (Getafe), Lucas Pérez (Alaves), and Loren Morón (Betis).

I don't see why Sociedad and Getafe would willingly let players go in the midst of seasons where placing in the top 6 and the lucrative and prestigious benefits are real possibilities. I guess if Barca basically guarantees the economic benefits of finishing top 4/6 then it's a hedge. I believe Spain requires all players to have release clauses (learned by way of the Neymar-PSG saga: Part I), but that info is hard to find.

I'm also curious why Roger Marti (Levante), Joselu (Alaves), Moreno (Villareal), and Avila (Osasuna) aren't being rumored. Joselu and Moreno in particular seem like players worth having. Both have 9 goals (all from open play), 3 assists, and are big targets (1.92M, 6'3''). I'm surprised that Barca would chase Perez over Joselu from Alaves, but I haven't watched them enough to have any real basis for that other than Perez scored 4/9 from PKs. It's not the most exciting name, but Soldado (Granada) is another name I'd be interested in. He's long in the tooth at 34, but hey that's almost the average for Barca this year HEYOOOOO!!!!! More seriously, he has a respectable 4 assists this season and is a physical PITA to play against. I think he's also probably the right price for the role Barca have in mind.

The other avenue, free agents, is a list where I don't recognize a lot of names. But to give a flavor, Diego Tardelli (Gremio), Sakho (Rennais), and Obafemi Martins (Shanghai) pop up. There's also an interesting list of Colombian strikers currently without a club, including Blanco, Osorio, and Murillo, although I have no idea why any of these players are currently without a club. Tardelli is 34 and Martins is 35, but the other guys are all around 30.

I don't think it's so much blocking Mount as it is letting Mount have a better role. Mount has really started to play like a young player, he's a bit inconsistent and there hasn't really been anyone to step into that position.

As he's been petering out throughout the season neither Kovacic nor Jorginho are the same kind of player. They could have used old school Ross Barkley but he's not the same player either.

To me this is actually a pretty good signing in that he's at the tail end of the prime so when Mount puts it all together in a year or two it's not a huge problem to have a late 20s rotation player.
