Will the NHL season end early because of lack of hockey sticks?

Article in today's Globe indicates that over 75% of the hockey sticks used by NHL players comes from China and the coronavirus as well as shutdown of factories for Chinese New Year observation has resulted in a shutdown in professional grade sticks available. Even if a stick does not break, it may become unusable, losing "pop" and an unlucky player can go through a half-dozen per game. DeBrusk says he is down to about 10 sticks. While the thought from Bauer and CCM (provider of 75% of NHL's sticks--from China--feel that they will get through the season if the outbreak doesn't continue out of control.

Between here and everywhere.
No.

Worst case they move to non pro-stock twigs. It'll impact their performance slightly, but not so much that they cancel the season or anything dumb like that.

I get the virus thing, but is Chinese New Year a big deal? I assuming that's an annual thing :)

From our companies production side we bake in a few weeks of disruption to supply chain for CNY break. This possibly pushing the break into late February or March is a very different proposition. I'm guessing Bauer/CCM is in a very similar position. We have product stuck at Port we have idle WIP in factories. The bigger problem isn't the delay. It's the unknown when you'll be able to predictably ramp again.

Our CM told us they would resume 2/3 them 2/7 now 2/15. But with three delays no one is booking orders with that date in mind.

Marking the end of winter and the beginning of the spring season, observances traditionally take place from New Year's Eve, the evening preceding the first day of the year to the Lantern Festival, held on the 15th day of the year. wiki

Basically the entire country shuts down for about 2 weeks as people travel all over to visit with family. However, normally the supply chains are all stocked up ahead of time to prepare for this shutdown.
