There is a new sheriff in town in DC. They just CRUSHED NY.

Nice win for the District of Columbia. Been a long time since a Washington football team was 2 games above 500.

I was watching some of the TB vs SEA game on YT live. Then it was shut down mid second half. Didn't realize that wasn't the official stream and then went to do something else. I'm sure that says more about me than the XFL.

In viewing I found it interesting down 9-6 with the offense sputtering Seattle go for 2. Definitely adds a layer of strategery.

Watching Dallas-LA right now. It's not bad. Low stakes, as in I could care less, obviously, but it's enjoyable. I also like hearing about such and such guy being an undrafted free agent out of Stetson who couldn't catch on with the Lions last season, and it's, like, hey that guy just makes a good catch, hope someone notices him.

Also amusing is that the players and coaches are miked up and fair game for interviews on the sidelines. Some dude for LA just dropped an f-bomb when the sideline reporter stuck a mic in his face and asked him why he fumbled.

I have no NBA or NHL rooting interest so I'd rather watch this if I'm just keeping something on in the background.

A little late on this, and maybe its been answered, but anyway, so you can't do squib or onside kicks in the xfl? I like how they do kickoffs but the way they do them seems to make it impossible. The end of the first half there would've been an ideal time to do a squib.

Another thing, and it's an important consideration if you're a connoisseur of dead leagues like the AAFC, WFL, USFL, WLAF, CFL expansion, XFL1, UFL, FXFL, AAF etc.

I like the uniforms.

Speaking of which, what do you think of the similarity of the Roughnecks’ logo to the old Houston Oilers’ logo? I would think the Titans make enough incidental use of the latter to retain trademark rights.

It's kind of a poor copy of it, which is a shame. It's definitely one case where the franchise's old logo and colors should have been left in the city when they moved. The Tennessee franchise could have had literally any color scheme and nickname they wanted. The Oilers oil-rig logo and baby-blue and red uniforms were all-time classics. It's really too bad that they're not around any more. Both the Titans and Houston Texans are anyonymous crap.

So for a knockoff league to do something similar.... meh. It's a poor copy, but they're doing it because people miss the original.

So far the only game I've watched was the vipers/dragons game. I thought it was awful. I almost never turn off a game of any sport, but I couldn't be bothered to even leave it on in the background.

Was at a bar and watched the game this afternoon.

Offensively it was one of the worst football “products” live seen in a while. Terrible plays, poor players, turnovers galore. To call it ugly would be too kind.

As other pundits have written, the XFL needs to find some QBs FAST. I find the rules and pace of the game fairly fun and interesting, but holy crap is it ever a major chore for most of these teams to put a drive together. PJ Walker is fun to watch, and I like Ta’amu’s athleticism, but all the other QBs are awful. Matt McGloin actually made me angry watching him yesterday he was such a butcher.

it shouldn’t be this hard to put up points.

Cardale Jones has been terrific. Better than the guys you mentioned, I think.

I just saw Landry Jones legally throw two forward passes for Dallas on the same play. The first pass was batted back to him by a defender behind the line of scrimmage, so he threw another, and it was caught for a first down - which is completely legal in the XFL, apparently.
Not the intended use for the rule, but yes, two forward passes on the same play are legal, so long as the first pass is completed behind the line of scrimmage, and the second is also thrown from behind the line of scrimmage. Conceptually, it's very difficult to defend, but also difficult to actually work.

I was thinking the same thing about the Oilers logo....having this XFL Houston team run the "run and shoot" offense with those old Oilers uniforms would be classic.

That got me back to thinking how much those early 1990s Oilers underachieved...blowing a 3 score lead to Denver in 1991 divisional round, which gets overshadowed by the 5 score lead they blew to the Bills a year later....then blew a 10-0 lead at home to the Chiefs in the 1993 divisional round.

Think back on the best Oilers teams - the Dan Pastorini/Earl Campbell teams. Never could quite get past the Steelers in the AFC Central.

Randomly, this biography of Pastorini from Wikipedia is entertaining:

Pastorini raced hydroplanes, drag-raced cars, judged wet T-shirt contests, and starred in a 1974 B-movie called Weed: The Florida Connection and then co-starred in a 1979 Lee Majors movie called Killer Fish. He also played a role in the TV series "Voyagers!" as a gladiator and posed nude in 1980 for Playgirl magazine. He married glamor model June Wilkinson, who appeared in Playboy magazine. She is British and 9 years older. They had one child, a daughter named Brahna, and later divorced.

Pastorini drove a Top Fuel dragster as part of the NHRA Winston Drag Racing Series in the mid-1980s. He collected several national event victories. His first came in Atlanta at the NHRA Southern Nationals in 1986.[1] He also participated in the 2009 Lamborghini Race located at Sebring International Raceway.[2]

Well that was a disgrace. 2 seconds left on clock and refs run off field.
Head of officials acknowledged there was 2 seconds left but by time reviewed, the game was already over?
