No, they won't. But you did not like Mac Jones. I retract that statement. As a clarifier:

- All of the posters in this forum are terrible at draft analysis except for OFT.
- You were definitely skeptical of Mac Jones.

Ha! 99% of my posts about the draft are "the fuck do I know?" and the other 1% were shitting on Mac Jones.

In the most general way, most players in sports turning pro have often used great physical traits to "cheat" to overcome or just not address technique issues. Baseball hitters, basketball shooters. It doesn't seem like Campbell is much different. The question is whether he is cheating simply because he can, or because he must -- to overcome some other shortcoming that will get exposed when everyone is good.

What's your take on whether it's fixable, or whether fixing the technique will expose other flaws?
That is the $64,000 question.

I think most of us who don't like him as an OT actually really like his projection as an OG.

I am working on a Campbell thread on Blue Cloud. I have 60 clips of him...

Feedback wise I worry if I post too few of them people will think I am cherry picking and if I post too many I will overwhelm folks. Trying to figure out the right balance.

My goal is to show you what reps I think actually translate best to OG and show you why I have some concerns about his technique and not just his length.

What do you think? 15-20 clips a good balance? More? Less?

Edit: the funny part is for all the consternation... I have a 7.75 on him which is pro bowl traits but needs technical consistency and reps. Going from OT to OG is hard. So I liked Campbell quite a bit and thought he was a damn good prospect.

This is great! My advice is to just be honest about the potential critics and say you're trying not to cherry pick but also not overwhelm people with clips, and say that you worked hard to pick representative clips that illustrate traits that show up a lot on film both good and bad. I'd aim for closer to 10, not that I really know what I'm talking about?

100%.

15 clips max. Anything more than that, it’s overwhelming.

and if you preface it with you’re not cherry picking (maybe include 3 clips that are bad?), I think that’s perfect

As promised a thread on Will Campbell. It is 14 video clips long. Each clip is 6-7 seconds or something close to that. I show you a representative sample of his strengths, weaknesses, and traits and why I think those translate best at OG vs OT. I also show you why I have some concerns with him at OT.

I know this is such a cliche draft dude thing to say but damnit it's freaking true: tape don't lie.

Edit: this summarizes it - there are other strengths and weaknesses I didn't cover but this is the gist of it.

Thanks for posting. I just watched all of them.

Does CFB count sacks differently than the NFL? I thought in the NFL a strip sack counts as a sack.

I think because the ball came out before he was down it doesn't count as a sack. Daniels went to the medical tent but was ok.

FWIW, from Google AI:
  • Strip Sack:
    .Opens in new tab
A strip sack is a sack that results in the quarterback fumbling the ball.

  • NCAA Rule:
    .Opens in new tab
If a defender forces a strip sack, and an offensive player picks up the fumble and tries to advance the ball, the defender does not get credit for a sack.

  • NFL vs. NCAA:
    .Opens in new tab
The NFL does credit the defender with a sack in this scenario, but the NCAA does not.

Good stuff. (though I have no idea what conclusion to draw from it. That isn't your fault though.)

@CFB_Rules paging your expertise please.

Honestly? I am shitty when it comes to remembering rules. Sorry. Rules and names. Hoping others can bail me/us out of this one.
I have no idea, the difference between a “sack” and a “tackle” doesn’t really exist from a rules perspective. That’s more a stats/gambling thing.
