Football has some dumb rules. You have to know them and execute them but that is kind of dumb how that works out.
Agree, but not sure that’s one of them. If a ball isn’t possessed in bounds then it’s out of bounds is a pretty consistent rule across game scenarios, it just plays out oddly in this case.
I disagree. Pissed me off when they put him ahead of Rodney in pregame analysis. Also, Collinsworth is the best color guy in football, to me. He points out, and they show in replay, more stuff that we can't see in regular camera coverage than anyone else.

Btw, nice play by the Raiders’ DT on the Chase jet sweep. That’s a big play if Chase isn’t forced to loop back into the backfield.

I believe he's saying that the rule where a kickoff violation is called if the returner steps out of bounds and grabs the ball in bounds is dumb and weird. That's obviously what the Raiders' returner was trying to do, but he messed up the order of operations.
Brees is vanilla, talks in clichés and won’t dare criticize anyone. Got a long career ahead of him.
Considering how much Cincy has dominated this game, I think I’d be ok with only being down 10 if I were a Raiders fan.

I don’t feel strongly but I see no problem with saying that it is only a penalty if the ball goes out of bounds. They can make the rules whatever they like.
if a kicker is good enough to put the ball near the sideline but not over it and not a touchback then I think the result should be what we saw on the play. Make the defender make a tough choice. Don’t make it a penalty if he steps out of bounds but the ball otherwise stays in bounds.
We should try to encourage exciting plays. The kicking team has a chance to try to pin the defense deep on what is usually a boring play but it takes a risk of kicking it out of bounds. Making it a penalty if the player acts quickly and extends out of bounds sucks.
I agree the player here made a terrible play because of what the rule is but I wish instead that was just a good kick.
I feel like Gruden's in some backwater cantina in Mexico hate watching this game right now. Probably with that dumb Chucky scowl on his face.
It really is a big deal that the NFL hasn't focused their attention on this issue.
