Thought we could just put both games into one thread ... the Twins win today, and the NL West showdown tomorrow.

Bad news for Minnesota, Miguel Sano not healed enough to rejoin roster. Probably could be on board for the LDS series against Cleveland

20 innernet bonus points to anyone who had Didi Gregorius and Eddie Rosario as the cleanup hitters in the AL Wild Card game.

I look at that Twins lineup and wonder how the hell they have a shot tonight to keep it within 6 runs. If the Twins pull this game off I'll piss my pants in laughter.
Have the Yankees played outside of NY since June?

Severino has an ERA of 4.66 vs .500+ teams and was knocked around by the Twins last time he faced them. I'm not so sure the Yanks have this one locked up easily.

The Twins historic playoff futility against the Yankees is well known (legendary some would say), but I have to believe that AT SOME POINT IT WILL END!

Tonight would be a good start to turn a new page for the Twinkees....

It's not enough for the Twins to win. I don't want the Yankees to lose in heart breaking fashion.

I want the Twins to utterly decimate them, in such a fashion that it essentially delegitimizes their entire bullshit 90 win season.

I want the game to end at 4am, simply because the Twins won't stop scoring runs, and the Yankees won't stop making errors.

Fuck the Yankees.

The last pitcher from this franchise not named Johan Santana to beat the MFYs in any kind of meaningful game was probably Walter Johnson. So yeah don't expect anything to change.

I'm going to make a BOLD prediction here. The Twins are EPICALLY ATROCIOUS against the Yankees. Since 2002, they are an astonishing 31-78 against the Yankees during the Regular Season and an equally putrid 2-12 against them in the Post-Season. The Baseball Gods (being the humor-loving deities that they are - remember the 2004 ALCS?) are going to smile upon the Twinkies tonite. Yup. That's what's gonna happen.

Why not? Santana is pitching tonight. Maybe he will put an end the Yankees and their evil ways.

I am trying to be optimistic but yes, the Twins do always roll over for the Yankees, like no other team I've ever seen. They probably will do it again tonight.

If memory serves, the Twins won game one in several series that the MFYs managed to go on to win.

This is Game One.

The perils of playing in this asinine one game series.

Too bad you didn’t pick up on the apple watches earlier. The Sox stole at least two games from you, right?

Eat shit, Yankees.

As a Tribe fan, I'm rooting for a Twins win… but with a shaky start from Santana that brings Berrios out of the pen by the 4th inning. Watching the Twins have to choose 2 from Kyle Gibson, Adalberto Mejia, Bartolo Colon and Aaron Slegers for their ALDS rotation would be glorious.

I love the 7/9 lefties in the Twins lineup. May they all find glory in that ridiculous short porch!

Severino gets rocked, and Twins hold on to win 7-5.

That's what I keep telling myself anyhow.

I honestly have zero faith in the Minnesota Twins to even remain competitive in this game and expect the MFY's to blow them out early. They have shown no ability to challenge them in any playoff series and decided it would be in their best interest to roll over and play dead last month when they shared the same field. So fuck the Twins and the MFY's both. Not sure who I hate more. Oh, I hope I am proven wrong but expectations are so low they are underground.

If the Red Sox were playing the Twins tonight in the Wild Card game, I'd be very concerned that the Twins would quite possibly win. But since the Twins are instead playing their overlords, I feel like they have very little chance and probably won't even put up much of a fight.

Sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it too. Just drawing the Twins would be over the top for me.

Can the Twins keep it close or will this be a blow out?
There will be a moment in the game when there may be some inkling that the Twins could win, but my guess is that it finishes something like 8-3 Yankees.
