Who is the face of the Yankees after Jeter leaves?

I don't know if any MLB team needs a 'face' (Who is the face of the A's currently? Donaldson? Two month rental Lester?), but I'm even more sure that a shitty to mediocre team which is what NY is going to be doesn't need one.

But yeah, the answer is probably Ellsbury or McCann or maybe the remnants of Teixeira if there has to be an answer.

According to Joel Sherman today, it could be 36 year old free agent Victor Martinez, since a team with A-Rod and Beltran definitely needs a highly paid player with his skill set, health, speed and positional flexibility.  He is needed to compensate for all the high paid guys who forgot how to hit this year, according to Sherman*.

* (who acknowledges this might actually be a terrible idea, but what else the hell can they do)

Heh, I almost posted this myself, but what I think Sherman (who I generally love and who is easily the best Yankee beat writer) might not fully grasp is just how much money NY is already committed to for 2015 and even more importantly 2016, I think somewhere around $190M already once you count arbs and the additional $6M A-Rod gets with 6 more HRs.

Also he talks in that same piece about keeping Headley and signing V-Mart, where would that leave A-Rod? SS? (hehe)
