Deleted all the Lester stuff.

But, hey, someone on the main board told me that "the Cole Hamels rumor was a sign the non-tender deadline was vital in the MLB FA/trade market."
Is there a rule on this board about misquoting people?
I said this:

Eh. Not exactly zero   From 12-1:
“@jonmorosi: Trade talks intensified around MLB in last 48 hours, one GM told me tonight. Tender deadline Tues., winter meetings next week. Stay tuned.”

Trades could affect Lester's value just as much as free agent signings.  Teams have a clearer idea of which players are available and can give them alternatives to reaching outside their comfort zone.

And then this:

I'll let this go after this point, but the Hamels rumored trade was reported at 1:30am, an hour and a half after that deadline.  Bastardo was a non-tender candidate and it would be strange timing for a trade of that size to go down that late at night.  I'm not saying Bastardo makes or breaks a trade of that magnitude, but the framework could have already been there with smaller pieces to be added in for values to match.

Anyhow, you could be right and it's more speculation than actual facts on my part but my guess is that something happens soon since there don't seem to be any more teams for him to visit.

I'm not seeing the words vital anywhere, are you?  I'm also seeing the words "could," and "more speculation than actual facts," and this board is for opinions is it not?  Don't misquote me again.

I am amazed by how angry people are getting with this kid.  And it's not just apathetic or cynical commentary.  It reads like raw, viscious personal ANGER.  It is probably good material for a great internet sociology experiment.

How do you know I wasn't quoting poster WiltonVeras4Lyfe, whose post got subsequently deleted in the massive purge of "Lester to the Cubs!"

I mean, you've described like 40% of Twitter. Never read CNN comments.

I would argue a large fraction of the annoyance is not with some 14-year-old kid randomly tweeting stuff, it's with all the people who have given the 14-year-old a platform by RTing him, interviewing him on ESPN radio, writing about him in magazines, etc. It's not HIS fault he has like 10k followers, hell, you could say he plays the Twitter game better than 95% of everyone out there. #legend

Im so happy they rarely have comment sections in their articles now. I was like a moth to a light with that shit. I couldn't help but read them and come away frightened by humanity. Nothing but hatred, stupidity and ignorance. Guess that also explains my attraction to the game threads here.
