Where would Joe Burrow rank this year?

I'm no more knowledgeable than you, just a fan, but in a recent article Tom Pelissero states that in a hypothetical he would take Burrow 100 times out of 100 (knee injury aside):

Burrow vs. Lawrence

I'm not sure it should be that definitive. I think Lawrence has a decent chance to be a generational talent, and I also think Jacksonville is a slightly more favorable environment for success than Cincinnati.

In what will come as a shock to absolutely no one who knows how long I've been on the Burrow train, I'm team Joe. His leadership intangibles are of the highest possible tier, and he is an absolute football genius.

Edit: Winning $5k on a $100 bet for him winning the Heisman has no bearing on this opinion. I promise.

Burrow's last year in college was otherworldly in every way. Lawrence has been better in college for longer than Burrow was. So it's really hard to tell who would go first. I suspect that Lawrence would go first based on a longer track record of excellence, but they'd certainly be 1-2 in whatever order. I guess it all depends on who Urban Meyer favored, obviously, and who knows what he thinks. My suspicion is that Lawrence would be the top pick but I could be wrong.

I personally have Lawrence ahead of Burrow, but Burrow would be #2 ahead of Wilson by a decent margin.

Burrow had an elite combo of accuracy & quick release, but he wasn't close to the level of prospect as Trevor Lawrence.

If Burrow's rookie year went into the evaluation & he didn't get injured, that might change because you have some extra information about how his skills translate, but basically every draft expert ranks Lawrence as the best prospect since at least Andrew Luck, & for some it goes back to Elway.

I'm guessing that age isn't as big of a factor for NFL prospects as it is for NBA prospects, but Lawrence is just about 3 years younger FWIW.

I’m definitely going Lawrence over Burrows but the latter would be a much better consolation prize for the Jets than Wilson, IMO.

Burrow's 2019 season in college was better than any of Lawrence's seasons and for a guy who put up such ridiculous numbers with so much talent around him, I saw him make a huge number of NFL throws and show off tremendous anticipation, accuracy and improvisational skills. Lawrence has the pedigree and the better physical tools, but I think I'd narrowly go Burrow.
