When the Patriots have the ball.......they are going to pass it down the throats of the Falcons all game.

In the simulacrum
It is amazing how little of the pre-game projection material proved to be right.

It seems like the one genuinely prescient focal point was the sense that the Falcons' red zone D was really porous and therefore, at key points, they would have trouble stopping the Pats. This was nowhere more apparent than the fact that the entire season really sunk for them on the two 2 PAT.

On Felger and Mazz, said including penalties and the two extra point conversions, there were 99 offensive plays for the Patriots. Six guys played in all of them: Brady and the five down linemen. Brady of course, but none of the OL guys came out for even a play?

That's some insane conditioning for guys that size playing in their 19th game of the season. Wow.

I had to look it up because that's an unbelievable stat...sure enough, those dudes played every snap:

I've been trying to find it but haven't been able to, but what is the record for # of offensive plays in a Super Bowl/Playoffs/Regular season?

99 plays seems insanely high. Looking at stats I could find, teams like the Saints were averaging about 69 plays a game to lead the league.

Look at that fake kneel-down "Hilltopper" play the Pats ran at the end of regulation. Lewis actually had 5-6 blockers out front vs. 3 Atlanta defenders, but he needed to turn it upfield more quickly rather than edging to the sideline.

Can you imagine if they scored the winning TD on that? Fake kneel downs would have been item #1 on the Competition Committee's agenda this offseason. Cheaters!

Yes, and there's definitely a part of me that wishes the game had ended on such a play.

Great tidbit about Michael Bennett c/o Trent Dilfer. They were watching the game in the stadium. Dilfer says Bennett tapped him on the arm when the score got to 28-3 and told him the Patriots were going to win. A surprised Dilfer said that's crazy. Bennett replied that the Falcons were worn out.
