I think you heard me, punchy.
Porcello, who says he's figured it out, vs. Kittredge, who is too young to have figured anything out.

Last night was awful. Let's get past that, although time is running out.

Today is the birthday of Jose Fernandez, who might, along with Len Bias, be the most unfortunate early-death-in-sports story we know about. It's also Gabe Kapler's birthday, so lets be happy we're not the Phillies. See, things could always be worse.

Let's do this.

I would be ecstatic if Porcello was scratched because he was being traded but it looks like there's no chance of that happening so I REALLY hope he's not blowing smoke when he says he's figured it out. They need him to be better than he's been if they want to advance in the postseason. Can't trust Sale to not be in his own head too much and shit the bed, Price is suddenly not good following the spat with Eck and the death of his dog, and Eovaldi's sitting in the bullpen. The jury is still out on Cashner (but he doesn't seem like a playoff rotation guy) and that just leaves Ed-Ro. Need at least two solid starters to have a shot.

Well, we know for sure that Jose Fernandez killed three, including himself, and Aaron Hernandez is at least two (and arguably 4).

Neither of those guys really belong in the same bucket as Len Bias, let alone someone like Dernell Stenson.

Let me be clear. I meant unfortunate from an athletic standpoint. Fernandez' and Hernandez' character, and who they took down with them is a whole other story.

Lyman Bostock would be another guy in that bucket.

As another poster pointed out elsewhere, Tampa isn't facing an opponent above .500 for about four weeks (after this series) and just improved their team, on paper, with a couple of moves.

The Red Sox, best offense and all, are going to have to make a lot of hay to make sure they aren't looking up at the Rays when 8/27 rolls around. Beating Tampa tonight and tomorrow would help more than a little.

Nice to see Porcello has it figured out. I also have figured it out: he sucks.

Many miles away something crawls to the surface. Of a dark Scottish loch ...
