Quotes from Hal Steinbrenner today:

“The hitting coach is responsible for the hitters, the pitching coach is responsible for the pitchers, and we’ve got an infield coach responsible for defense and fielding,” Steinbrenner said. “That comes with any position in life. You are liable for what goes on."

My response:

HOW ABOUT YOU, RICH BOY? WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT THIS TEAM WAS DISASTROUSLY ASSEMBLED BASED ON YOUR INSISTENCE ON AN ALLEGED NECESSITY TO KEEP TO A $189M BUDGET, WHICH YOU ENDED UP JUNKING ANYWAY? YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT LIABILITY FOR THE STATE OF THE ORGANIZATION, LOOK IN THE FUCKING MIRROR AND FIRE YOURSELF.

Thank you, I feel a tiny bit better now.

Hal and Hank are like Michael Kay and John Sterling, the former only looks good by comparison to the latter.

Coincidentally, Tim Kurkjian is on ESPN right now raving about my man Russell Martin. THANKS AGAIN FOR THAT, HAL.

Look Jon, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

My word the lack of self-awareness.

"I enjoy working with people. I have a stimulating relationship with Mr. Cashman and Mr.. Girardi. My mission responsibilities range over the entire operation of the team so I am constantly occupied. I am putting myself to the fullest possible use which is all, I think, that any conscious entity can ever hope to do."

It would be too much to hope for to have him morosely sing "Daisy" as he announces selling the team, wouldn't it?

Jon maybe you should reflect upon the Yankees success over the longer-term, say 1996-2012, and appreciate the impressive accomplishments , and thank the Steinbrenner family and its vast resources for allowing Yankee fans to bask in the glory of a once proud franchise.

Still hoping Martin considers the Red Sox tangentially to get back at the Yankees.
